For years, rumors have swirled that House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is suffering from serious health issues.
The California representative’s so-called “senior moments” seem to be increasingly frequent, critics say. In fact, some conservatives have openly speculated Pelosi is hiding serious mental health issues like dementia or Alzhiemer’s.
Last Thursday, Pelosi was caught on video stumbling over her words and struggling to remember basic facts. Since then, the footage has begun circulating social media — and the embarrassing brain freeze moment will only feed mental health rumors.
The footage comes from a small press conference Pelosi held to address Democratic concerns over American nuclear policy — specifically, Pelosi wants President Donald Trump to be stripped of his powers to defend American sovereignty.
It didn’t go over well.
Struggling through her notes, Pelosi frequently tripped over words and even forgot names.
Pelosi struggled to remember who served in vital roles the administration of former President Barack Obama, for example.
“Uh… former… uhh,” she said as she struggled. “Deputy sec.. Undersecretary of State.”
“Uh…” she continued, then tried to gloss over the awkward moment by skipping the man’s name. “Who was magnificent in terms of the negotiations.”
At one point in the press conference, Pelosi stopped speaking and seemed to stare blankly into the distance.
When criticizing Trump’s reponse to natural disasters, Pelosi could barely form her thoughts. “It is heartbreaking and it’s… it lacks knowledge,” she managed to say. “Knowledge about the role of FEMA and others in time of national … nat… natural disaster.”

Pelosi’s office has yet to address these mental health rumors, but these frequently odd public meltdowns certainly haven’t helped.
