House Speaker Nancy Pelosi traveled all the way up to the expensive Martha’s Vineyard island to attend former President Barack Obama’s “super spreader” 60th birthday bash this weekend — only to find out she wasn’t invited.
And a picture of the third most senior Democratic Party leader on Sunday went viral.
“Hi ya,” another visitor to the island, Kevin Blake, reportedly said before the now-popular pictures. “How was Obama’s party?”
“I didn’t go,” Pelosi responded. “I had other parties to go to.”

Blake posed for a picture with Pelosi, but then told The Daily Mail he was secretly laughing at the House leader.
“To be her, the most powerful woman in Congress, and not even go to his party?” Blake reportedly told The Daily Mail. “I find that hilarious.”
“And she’s the one carrying forward his agenda.”
He shared a photo of Pelosi with the newspaper — and it quickly went viral.

Despite heavy criticism, the mega party for the 44th president was still held over the weekend.
The guest list was drastically slashed after accusations that the event could be a “super spreader” of the deadly delta variant of COVID-19.

Pelosi was on the outside looking in.
“This outdoor event was planned months ago in accordance with all public health guidelines and with COVID safeguards in place,” Obama spokesperson Hannah Hankins said in a statement on the guestlist being pruned. “Due to the new spread of the delta variant over the past week, the President and Mrs. Obama have decided to significantly scale back the event to include only family and close friends.”
“President Obama is appreciative of others sending their birthday wishes from afar and looks forward to seeing people soon,” Hankins added.
The two-term president turned 60 on Wednesday. Conservatives criticized the plans for a milestone birthday celebration after details about the event were published this week.
“If the CDC doesn’t recommend Obama cancel his birthday party, don’t listen when they recommend you shut down your business,” conservative activist Charlie Kirk tweeted on Monday.
Last week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended that people — including those fully vaccinated against COVID-19 — resume wearing face coverings in public indoor spaces in areas of “substantial or high transmission” to protect against the delta variant. Some states and cities also have reinstated mask requirements as infections surge around the country.
The CDC website on Wednesday listed the rate of transmission in Dukes County, Massachusetts, which includes the island of Martha’s Vineyard, as “substantial.”

Both Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and have urged Americans to also get their shots and follow public health protocols.
Former President Donald Trump and leading Republicans have also urged Americans that are hesitant about getting the vaccine to talk to their personal doctor and ask if it’s right for them.
