If you’re a Republican, there is some good news: Democrats have a major problem this election year.
The better news: It’s themselves.
The biggest problem facing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s attempt to maintain control of Congress in 2022 is that the entire Democratic Party has bought into the most insane theories of Wokeness—and they don’t just say stupid things to get elected; they really believe them.
Unfortunately for them, the voters don’t just reject these ideas, they think they’re crazy — and since the liberals are true believers, they can’t change their tune in time for the shellacking they know is coming from the November midterms.
You can see it in Pelosi’s own San Francisco, of all places. The Bay City, which has elected Pelosi to Congress for 30 years, could be the most completely leftist urban area in the United States. In 2020, 85 percent of San Franciscans voted for the Democratic Party. It’s a one-party town — with an occasional member of the Green Party thrown in — and backs everything left-wing policy from shaming the police to letting homeless people defecate on the streets and sidewalks in broad daylight.
But even San Francisco had enough with the Left’s antics in one area: their kids’ education.
The city’s voters chose to recall three members of the school board for pushing far-Left politics instead of seeing to their children’s well-being.
The three members — President Gabriela López, Vice President Faauuga Moliga, and Commissioner Alison Collins — kept schools closed… and, in the middle of the coronavirus lockdowns, they decided their top priority wasn’t education.
It was to sanitize U.S. history. They floated a plan to rename all the schools in the area named for “offensive” historical figures like George Washington, Abraham Lincoln… and even ultraliberal Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein.
Parents said it was time for them to focus on educating their kids and started up a recall petition — and the election wasn’t even close. “The pro-recall vote garnered more than 70% of the ballots,” reported the local Fox affiliate.
The parents’ recall effort even won the support of the city’s far-Left mayor, London Breed. “San Francisco is a city that believes in the value of big ideas, but those ideas must be built on the foundation of a government that does the essentials well,” said Madam Mayor after she saw the election results come in. She knows better than to be on the wrong side of a 70% issue in a one-party town.
The Democrats’ problem is that the priorities of people like these three board members have become the mainstream of the Democratic Party.
The entire party went all-in on masks, vaccination passports, transgender restrooms, defunding the police, no bail release, and no prosecution for “petty” crimes like shoplifting. Why wouldn’t they? They’ve never met anyone opposed to a single item on that agenda. Their professors groomed them in college, they graduated and started making good money in an urban area, and all their friends are upper-middle-class liberals who want to talk to you about their pronouns.
The polls don’t lie: Almost all Americans are lined up against them on every one of those issues.
Not the opinion polls, the electoral polls.
It’s not just San Francisco. In Virginia, Republicans won up and down the ballot by running on the strength of good schools that teach facts instead of indoctrinating kids. In deep-blue New Jersey, a Republican came within a hair’s breadth of taking the governor’s mansion.
It’s not even just Republicans who are outraged. Bill Maher — the HBO host and a confirmed liberal Democrat — has had enough. “It’s not me who’s changed, it is the Left,” he said on his show recently.
He said today’s Democratic Party “is now made up of a small contingent who’ve gone mental and a large contingent that refuse to call them out for it. But I will. That’s why I’m a hero at Fox [News] these days.”
“Which shows just how much liberals have had their head up their ass,” Maher said.
This sounds like criticism, but it’s really free election advice from people who want power—so they can ram their agenda down everyone else’s throats.
“The Democrats have to step away from the super wokeness,” said MSNBC talking head Donny Deutsch.
“I mean San Francisco really tells what’s going on.”
If the Democrats don’t listen, San Francisco also hints at what’s going down—the Democrat brand. Their electoral future.
And Pelosi’s control of Congress.
