In a tense, four-against-one argument, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich appeared on “The View” this week to discuss his new book “Understanding Trump” and talk about ousted FBI Director James Comey’s recent testimony.
Liberal Whoopi Goldberg wasn’t quite ready for Gingrich to let loose with a devastating truth barrage.
While each of the four woman continuously badgered him and laughed in his face about his statements, Gingrich held his own and proved he’s more informed than the panel on “The View.”
Gingrich came out and attempted to begin the show with a peace offering, complementing Whoopi on a Marvin Gaye event at a community center, at which he called her “brilliant”
But the peace didn’t last long.
When Whoopi began the show with clear animosity by refusing to say President Donald Trump’s name, Gingrich let her have it.
As they got into the details of the Comey hearing, Gingrich recalled when Comey referred to fake news from The New York Times, to which Whoopi appeared unaware.
“When you’re reading about an anon source with a classified leak, the odds are the person you’re talking to didn’t have the classified leak. And the person who had the classified info didn’t know about the leak,” Gingrich explained.
“If you believe that … why was it so hard to accept that he didn’t find what everybody thought there was going to be on Mrs. Clinton?” Whoopi asked.
“I think he found more than enough about Mrs. Clinton which is why she’s still Mrs. Clinton,” Gingrich said, setting Whoopi off again.
“That was double speak at its best. What did you just say? What the hell did you just say?!” she exclaimed.
“She would be President Clinton if he found nothing,” Gingrich explained.
Amen.
Later, Whoopi tried to spin the media as pro-Trump — and Gingrich was having none of it.
“If you look at, for example, CNN has 93% negative coverage [of the president] according to Harvard,” Gingrich told Whoopi. “I think its a miracle that Trump has any approval.”
