There’s a shocking new allegation in the investigation of special counsel Robert Mueller… but it’s not against President Donald Trump.
It’s not against his ex-attorney, Michael Cohen, or his former campaign manager, Paul Manafort.
This stunning accusation isn’t against anyone connected to Trump or his 2016 presidential campaign, and it’s not against anyone in Russia.
It’s directed at the man himself: ex-special counsel Robert Mueller.
RealClearInvestigations, part of the RealClear websites including RealClearPolitics, has uncovered evidence that Mueller may have done exactly what he’s accused others of doing… and what some people are sitting in prison for right now.

He lied under oath during his July testimony to Congress about his sudden and strange May 29 appearance before the media.
That press conference seemed quite unusual at the time given how tight-lipped Mueller had been until then. As it turned out, it may have been a secret attempt at damage control to win over a federal judge.
The public didn’t know it at the time, but RealClearInvestigations learned that Mueller and his team had just been blasted by the judge, who even threatened them with criminal contempt charges over “misleading language” in his report: U.S. District Court Judge Dabney Friedrich warned Mueller and his team during the closed-door meeting about ongoing case against an alleged Russian “troll farm.”
Friedrich told them to stop publicly linking the organization to the Russian government and that “willful failure to do so in the future will result in the initiation of contempt proceedings.”
The very next day, he held a hastily arranged news conference. It wasn’t much noticed at the time, but he went out of his way to clarify the point of contention the judge had raised.

The judge later indicated she was satisfied by the public clarification, the website reported.
However, when Mueller testified in July, Rep. Tom McClintock, R-Calif., asked directly if he held that news conference to satisfy the judge — and Mueller directly stated that he didn’t!
If the RealClearInvestigations report is accurate, that means he lied — and did so under oath, in front of Congress, and on live national television.
“If he lied, he’s guilty of perjury and lying to Congress,” McClintock told the website. “I think this would be of interest to the U.S. attorney investigating misconduct in this matter and the inspector general’s office.”
But there is one major obstacle standing in the way of Mueller ever having to pay a price for possible perjury: the Democrats.

If he lied to the committee, that committee would have to investigate it… make the accusation… and turn it over to the Department of Justice for consideration.
Who runs the committee?
Like the rest of the House, it’s controlled by Democrats. In this case, specifically, Mueller ally Rep. Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y.
In other words, the odds of this going any further are even thinner than Mueller’s phony investigation against Trump.
Trump himself repeatedly denounced the probe as a “witch hunt” organized by his enemies, both Democrats and “Never Trumpers” within his own party, and he’s accused Mueller of hiring “angry Democrats” to conduct the probe.

Fox News host and close Trump ally Sean Hannity called Mueller’s July testimony an “unmitigated disaster” both for the investigation as well as for the Democratic “cheerleaders” behind it.
“Today’s hearing kept up but will now go down in history as one of the single biggest, most epic embarrassments in history, in American history,” Hannity said on his show. “What happened today should shock the conscience of every American.”
Now, if the latest news is any indication, what happened that day is more shocking than anyone realized at the time.
