Ivana Trump told Good Morning America that she is the real “first lady” because she’s President Donald Trump’s ex-wife — and that did not sit well with the real First Lady of the United States.
Melania Trump’s comeback stunned the Washington establishment — and Ivana has since backpedaled from her “self-serving” claims.

During an interview to promote her new book, Ivana claimed to have a direct line to the White House and her ex-husband… but she didn’t use it. Ivana said, “Melania is there and I don’t want to cause any kind of jealousy or anything like that because I’m the first Trump wife. I’m the first lady, OK?”
That didn’t sit well with Melania — and her reply sent social media into a frenzy.
“Mrs. Trump has made the White House a home for Barron and The President. She loves living in Washington, DC and is honored by her role as First Lady of the United States.”
“She plans to use her title and role to help children, not sell books. There is clearly no substance to this statement from an ex. Unfortunately only attention seeking and self-serving noise,” the statement from Melania’s spokesman Stephanie Grisham read.
Americans online exploded over the response —
