First lady Melania Trump hit the road on Tuesday for her “Be Best” campaign by visiting babies that were born dependent on drugs.
She flew to Nashville, Tennessee to visit the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s hospital at Vanderbilt and blew bubbles, gave big hugs, and played with toys after taking part in a round table discussion on possible treatments for the youngsters.
The first lady used her visit as an opportunity to ask how she can be a role model for the mother experiencing drug addictions, and she also visited other children in the hospital being treated for serious conditions.
Melania crouched down to speak with 4-year-old Essence Overton and complimented the little girl’s colorful nails. “Yours are all different colors. I like that,” the first lady said.
The little girl then took Melania’s hand and said “Oh! You painted yours white!”

Melania’s initiative as first lady, the “Be Best” campaign focuses on children’s well-being and helping others to understand the consequences of the opioid addiction epidemic.
On Tuesday evening, Melania tweeted, “#BeBest will continue to bring attention to NAS. A very big thank you to @VUMCchildren & staff for an informative & moving visit. It is a joy spending time w/ such courageous kids & to witness the strength of families who must deal with these tough situations.”

How did we get so lucky to have Melania as our first lady?
During Melania’s visit, she met with a 22-year-old mother and a 28-year-old father, along with their 8-day-old baby.
The first lady held the tiny baby as she talked to the parents, and asked the mother how she planned to stay healthy now that her child has been born.
“They had a pretty emotional meeting,” Melania’s spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham said.
Her campaign aims to educate at-risk Americans on these serious issues facing children.
