Barron Trump, 15, has maintained a lower profile than his siblings. He usually avoids the rallies for his father, former President Donald Trump.
And being underage means he’s largely left in peace among the political fighting in D.C.
However The Sun spoke to his mother, former First Lady Melania Trump, and she offered a rare glimpse into the quiet life of her son.
Melania, 51, nicknamed Barron “Little Donald” shortly after his birth.
Barron “wanted to be like daddy,” Melania told The Sun.
Barron is preparing to attend a new school, The Sun reported. He has enrolled in Florida’s elite Oxbridge Academy, near the former president’s residence at Mar-a-Lago.
The school charges an annual tuition of $34,800, and it was founded with $50 million by oil tycoon Bill Koch, one of the Koch brothers.
The Sun reached out to one of the school’s spokespeople, who confirmed that Barron will join the class of 2024.
“We look forward to welcoming him into our school and community,” the school’s Director of Advancement Scott Siegfried told People magazine.
The school will be working with the secret service to prevent security issues, according to a schoolwide email. The school said that such practices are customary for school-age children of former presidents.
Melania described her son as being “all into sports” during a 2018 speech at Liberty University. Barron has been spotted in a T-shirt from Arsenal’s soccer team. He has played soccer in youth leagues around northern Virginia and Washington, D.C, according to Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post.
Barron, like Melania, tends to stay out of headlines. However, he made national news in October 2020 due to a short bout with coronavirus.
“Barron Trump you know he had the corona 19, the China virus. It’s got 20 different names, but to me corona means Italy,” former President Trump said at a rally in Iowa. Melania described Barron as “a strong teenager” with a mild case of the virus.
He also went viral in 2016, after visibly struggling to stay awake during his father’s election-night speech.

Barron is the former president’s fifth and youngest child, and he is Melania’s only child. He was born in 2006, shortly after the former president’s 60th birthday.
