McDonald’s announced this week it will invest $200 million in regenerative farming practices over the next seven years, the largest such commitment in the fast food giant’s history.

The investment aligns with the Trump administration’s “Make America Healthy Again” agenda promoted by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Thank you, @McDonalds, for committing a record $200 million investment into regenerative agriculture. This is a big win for regenerative grazing practices, habitat restoration, water and wildlife conservation. 🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/9f6mrFBV3Y

The initiative covers up to 4 million acres of cattle ranches across as many as 38 states in partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service.

McDonald’s said the investment demonstrates its “continued commitment to responsible beef sourcing and stewardship of natural resources.”

Regenerative farming enhances soil health and reduces the need for synthetic chemicals and fertilizers.

Calley Means, an advisor to Kennedy, called the move a significant milestone for the MAHA movement.

“McDonald’s invests $200 million to shift supply chain to more regenerative practices. Soil Health and regenerative practices are a true win-win between MAHA advocates and large companies. These moves should be celebrated,” Means said on X.

“My takeaway from a lot of engagement with food companies is this commitment to soil health is real. These companies depend on their soil and have a major economic interest in evolving/improving practices,” Means added. “Soil health and regenerative principles are a key theme of the MAHA report. The actions of McDonald’s are significant here and represent a roadmap about how we can drive real change.”

The McDonald’s announcement follows other voluntary changes by major food companies under the MAHA initiative. Kennedy’s HHS has already witnessed companies drop synthetic food dyes and halt the use of high fructose corn syrup.

McDonald’s is the largest fast food chain in the United States. The company’s investment signals that major food providers are embracing reforms that could reshape agricultural practices nationwide.

The timeline for the regenerative agriculture program extends through 2032.
