Masters tournament resists inflation with this $1.50 sandwich

A pimento-cheese sandwich has long remained a staple at the Masters… and remained fixed in price.

Ordering a sandwich, chips, and a soft drink costs just $5.

Inflation may be driving up the food cost around the country, but patrons generally won’t see those increases at Augusta National. Most prices here have remained the same for years. A club sandwich or barbeque sandwich still sells for $3, and they can be followed by a Georgia peach ice cream sandwich ($3).

“I kind of knew about the prices from seeing it on social media,” 32-year-old Jimmy Murray of Minneapolis told the outlet. “I’ve had about everything on menu I could eat and I think I paid $10.50.”

Of the pimento sandwich, Murray said, “It’s fantastic, actually… It has a really unique taste.”

Patrons consider the pimento sandwich essential.

“I’m a healthy guy and I dial it in when I’m at home,” 42-year-old Jordan Janes of St. Louis told the outlet. “But I’m going to let go a little while I’m here. And I’ve already done 17,000 steps today, so I’m not going to feel guilty about it for a minute. … And it was worth it.”

Granted, the price of a beer increased to $6 dollars, up from $5 last year.

Plus, menu is still missing one thing: cell phones.

That unique, low-tech aspect of Augusta National still persists. The tournament doesn’t allow phones on the course – whether or not the patrons like it.

Take a look at the menu, reprinted below.
