The Republican National Committee has uncovered hard evidence that noncitizens have been sitting on Democrat-controlled New Jersey’s voter rolls for years.
In many documented cases, they illegally cast ballots in American elections.
The NJGOP and the RNC submitted public records requests to all 21 counties in the Garden State and found multiple instances of noncitizens asking to be removed from the voter rolls, claiming they had no idea how they were registered to vote in the first place.
The vast majority were registered as Democrats.
In Atlantic County alone, Fox News reviewed more than 50 documents from noncitizens attesting they had been unknowingly registered.
The “how” is not a mystery. New Jersey’s Motor Vehicle Commission automatically registers people to vote when they obtain a driver’s license unless they opt out, and noncitizens who failed to do so ended up on the rolls.
These noncitizens only discovered the problem while pursuing citizenship, since being registered to vote as a noncitizen could disqualify their applications.
In some of the instances, the noncitizen had successfully voted in New Jersey.
One noncitizen, who was removed from the rolls in 2015, had voted multiple times in 2000, 2001, and again in the 2008 general election.
Another cast a ballot in a 2005 primary election and a 2000 municipal election. Four noncitizens were separately charged earlier this year with illegally voting in the 2020, 2022, and 2024 federal elections in New Jersey.
RNC Chairman Joe Gruters told Fox News that what the public records turned up is certainly just a fraction of the size of the problem.
“Here the Democrats are saying that noncitizens never vote, that this is a non-issue, but every county we’re finding people that are self-reporting now,” Gruters said. “I’m glad we’re doing these records requests because it’s really eye-opening — because this is just the people that have self-reported.”
He said the RNC has requested voter registration list maintenance information from 48 states, but New Jersey and other Democrat-run states are stonewalling.
“We have staffers already in 17 states working on these issues to make sure that, like I said, it goes back to having a safe and secure election that’s free and fair,” Gruters said. He added the RNC is “bringing the hammer down” on election integrity ahead of November’s midterms.
“What’s happened with Spencer Pratt should open your eyes and you should be sick to your stomach,” Gruters said. “This should not be allowed in America.”
