Liz Warren got some bad news Monday night

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-M.A., spent her time Monday night on MSNBC in a last-ditch effort to convince voters that it was critical for Senate Democrats to eliminate the filibuster.

Host Rachael Maddow asked Warren if there was any chance the Democrats could raise the minimum wage this year.

“Of course it can happen,” Warren responded. “If we just get rid of the filibuster! And, look, I know I’ve been singing this song for a long time about the filibuster.”

“Mitch McConnell, right now, has a veto over our [ability] to do anything unless we can twist ourselves into pretzels and make it fit through reconciliation,” she complained.

“If we say we’re going to get rid of the filibuster, we’re going to go with majority rule — the way the Constitution holds — for the House and the Senate,” Warren said. “And we can pass the things we need to pass.”

Earlier that day, though, Warren got some very bad news.

A member of her own party, Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.V., made an appearance on Fox News Channel — and he killed her hopes.

Manchin said he’d never, ever eliminate the filibuster.

“Never!” he exclaimed when asked about it by Fox News’ Jason Donner. “Jesus Christ, what don’t you understand about never?”

Manchin was joined last month by Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, D-A.Z., in his defense of the filibuster as a tool that will moderate the far-Left Democrats.

The news left Sen. Mitch McConnell very pleased.

“Today two Democratic Senators publicly confirmed they will not vote to end the legislative filibuster,” McConnell said at the time.

“They agree with President Biden’s and my view that no Senate majority should destroy the right of future minorities of both parties to help shape legislation.”
