House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., has claimed for more than two years that he has evidence proving President Donald Trump committed treason and colluded with Russia to win the 2016 election.
Now that the facts are all on the table, though, Schiff — and his reputation — just took a big blow.
Schiff’s claims all depended on former special counsel Robert Mueller, because the California Democrat believed Mueller would indict the president.

But after Mueller’s report was a total dud and zero charges were brought against Trump, Schiff is now admitting that impeachment is essentially dead in the water.
While speaking with NBC host Chuck Todd last Sunday, Schiff cautioned Democrats on pushing impeachment because he worries that it will fail in Congress and backfire on the Democrats heading into the 2020 election.
When Todd asked why Democrats are afraid to vote on impeachment after years of claiming they had evidence that Trump broke the law, Schiff wilted like a flower.
“I worry equally about the message of taking an impeachment case to trial, losing that case, having the president acquitted, and then having an adjudication that this conduct is not impeachable,” Schiff said with a defeated look on his face.
“The jury I’m most worried about, not the Senate because I think that’s a preordained conclusion, is the American people. Can we make the case to the American people? I want to make sure that’s true before we go down that path because it’s going to occupy a year of the nation’s time,” Schiff added.

Todd then asked Schiff about Mueller’s testimony before two House committees last week.
Schiff conceded that he was upset Mueller didn’t provide Democrats with the political ammunition to begin an impeachment proceeding.
“You know, look, I… I wish that he had testified in a more narrative fashion, that the words didn’t need to be coaxed from him as much as they did,” Schiff said.
The California lawmaker then pushed more liberal talking points.
Schiff said Mueller’s testimony was “chilling” and that he described a “campaign and presidential candidate characterized by disloyalty to country, by greed, and by lies.”

Schiff concluded by likening Senate Republicans to a satanic cult because they won’t play ball with Democrats pipe dream of impeachment.
“There’s no making the case to the cult of the president’s personality that is the Senate GOP, but we should at least be able to make the case to the American people. And I’d like to see the evidence so I’m confident that we can do that before we say we’re ready to charge the president of the United States.
Quite amazing to see Schiff, who has been on just about every cable news show for two years claiming Trump committed treason and is going to jail, is now admitting defeat.
And, adding even more hilarity to it all, not a single media host is holding him accountable for his retreat.
He’s going to get away with accusing Trump of breaking the law and colluding with Russia to win an election without suffering any repercussions.
He’s now the self-righteous Democrat flashing the yellow warning signs on how impeachment may cost his party the 2020 election… after he spent two years demanding that the duly elected president be removed from office.

Democrats should point the finger at themselves.
They put all of their eggs in the Mueller basket, and the ex-special counsel actually managed to completely vindicate Trump of all the things Democrats accused him of.
Democrats remain fueled by their hatred of the president and refuse to accept the outcome of the 2016 election.
And no matter how many “witch hunts,” hearings, and investigations Democrats hold, it won’t change the fact that Trump won.
