Lindsey Graham just told Trump some good news.

You can be sure that former President Donald Trump is anxiously keeping his eyes firmly on the television from his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida.

He may be even growing a little agitated as his impeachment trial unfolds.

But with one phone call, he and his supporter’s fears may have been alleviated.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C. claims that talked to Trump during the midst of the 2nd round to deliver him a very important message.

“… the case is over,” he said.

He explained to reporters that while Trump’s lawyers had been lackluster in presenting their case, that the former President would in the end be formally acquitted.

“I think his team will do better, can do better,” he said. “It’s just a matter of getting the final verdict now.”

Graham’s public assurance comes on the heels of the decision by 44 GOP senators not to move forward with the trial — arguing that the proceeding unconstitutional.

And the South Carolina Senator warns that even the Republicans who voted to go forward with the trial wouldn’t necessarily vote to convict.

“I think the vote for not guilty will probably grow beyond 44,” he said.

It’s important to note that perhaps one of the most important players — Sen. Mitch. McConnell,  R-Ky. — voted against going forward with the trial. This is perhaps indicative of the emotional high that has worn off of Republican lawmakers as the country is further removed from the Jan. 6 Capitol storming.

“People are emotional about President Trump,” Graham noted.

The impeachment vote saw relatively few surprises other than perhaps Sen. Bill Cassidy. of Louisiana, who seemed to change his mind to move forward with the trial, after initially declaring the trial unconstitutional.

The high-stakes trial continues today as Congress digs in for day three of the 2nd round.
