New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., and the three other first-year Congresswomen known as the ‘Squad’… like to think they’re the new muscle in Congress.
Whether they’re making some ridiculous policy proposal, or setting Twitter aflame with an illogical complaint, AOC and her crew expect fellow Democrats to support them.
And that includes House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.
The only problem? Pelosi keeps stabbing AOC and her pals in the back — and she just did it again.
Just days after Squad members Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich. and Ilhan Omar, D-Minn. were denied entry into Israel, many Democrats (including Squad leader AOC) are engaging in faux outrage.

Some Democrats are even trying to appease the volatile Squad with talk about taking retribution against Israel’s ambassador to the United States.
But not Pelosi. She was quietly working a back-channel, smoothing everything over with Israel while her party rages.
And news of the conversation was leaked on social media.
Israeli President Reuven Rivlin confirmed the details of the call in a tweet, saying he and Pelosi discussed the importance of strong U.S.-Israel relations, and how that relationship rose above politics.
I spoke today with @SpeakerPelosi about the importance of strong US-Israel relations and I thanked her for her commitment. The link between us is between peoples, based on historical ties, deep, strong friendships and shared values, not dependent on the links with either party

You can bet that Tlaib, Omar, and their fearless leader AOC took that as a sharp stick in the eye.

Because none one of them want strong U.S.-Israel relations — and Tlaib and Omar were hoping that being banned from the country would drive a wedge between America and one of our closest allies. Together they hoped for a platform for American sympathy.
But Pelosi, again, didn’t have their backs. She made clear that she wasn’t interested in the Squad agenda.
And this is one case where Pelosi was right.
Tlaib and Omar have both encouraged damaging economic boycotts against Israel — boycotts that are not supported by Republicans or Democrats.
They were going to Israel as representatives of the U.S. government for the sole purpose of making trouble.
It’s easy to understand why neither America nor Israel wanted that.

Now, Pelosi is dismissing the Squad’s hysterics and getting back to business with Israel.
Another stab in the back… and one that the Squad richly deserved.
