Television personality Keith Olbermann began his career as a sports commentator on ESPN in the 1990s.
Then joined MSNBC as a political commentator for the following decade.
Now — in the third act of his career — Olbermann has become a Twitter addict.
An unhinged one at that.
Who’s Olbermann’s latest social media target?
Republican Vice Presidential candidate JD Vance.
Olbermann’s rant stems from a wild, baseless attack that Vance engaged in sexual activity with a couch.
The false rumor began after an X user made up that Vance’s 2016 memoir, Hillbilly Elegy, included a passage about having sex with an “inside-out latex glove shoved between two couch cushions.”
The problem is, there is no such mention in Vance’s book. But the joke, which was posted on July 15, included a fake citation with page numbers, leading many to believe it was an authentic anecdote.
But that hasn’t stopped people from latching onto the hoax.
Even Democratic Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz made a joke about the debunked story during a rally this week.
“I can’t wait to debate the guy—that is, if he’s willing to get off the couch and show up,” said Walz.
Jokes aside, Olbermann took things to an unsavory level.
In response to Vance tweeting a joke about his campaign team looking like an “Entourage” remake, Olbermann decided to make two casting couch jokes.

Olbermann has a knack for promoting fake news on social media without doing his research.
He recently demanded the St. Louis Cardinals have their stadium imploded because he thought the players supported Donald Trump.
Keith Olbermann accused St. Louis Cardinals players of being Nazis and demanded the stadium be blown up because he thought they were supporting Donald Trump.
In reality, his facts were completely wrong and he made a fool out of himself.

The JD Vance couch story has been proven to be false, but that hasn’t stopped the likes of Olbermann from spreading all over social media.
