In a rare and revealing interview, Second Lady Karen Pence courageously defended her marriage and the major role God plays in her relationship with the Vice President on Wednesday — and it has supporters cheering.
The Pence marriage was thrown into the spotlight after a nasty March 28th Washington Post article reported that Karen didn’t like Mike to dine with other women if she wasn’t present — also known as the “Billy Graham rule,” named for the famed evangelist.

The Post cited a comment Mike Pence made to The Hill a whopping 15 years ago, where he said that he never eats alone with women other than Karen and he refuses to attend alcoholic events if she isn’t with him.
After a social media whirlwind of criticism, Karen decided it was time to speak up and defend their relationship — and her Christian faith.
She joined CBN News’s Jenna Browder for her first ever sit-down interview since her husband has been in office.

When asked what role faith plays in their marriage, she told a heartwarming and intimate story about the beginning of their relationship.
“When we first started dating, I remember saying something to Mike, something silly, like, ‘Oh, you’re my number 1.’ And he stopped right there and said, ‘You know what, I’m probably going to disappoint you if you make me number 1 in your life.’ What he was talking about, you know, you need to have God as number 1 – Jesus needs to be number 1 in your life. He didn’t mind being number 2,” she joked, “but he just said, ‘You know, I’m human and I’m going to let you down.'”
She also revealed her strength when describing how the Pence family doesn’t let public criticism effect them.

“You know, we’ve lead a very public life and we’re private people — but there’s a way to balance that with your family. And what we’ve done is we just always, in this political [environment], is just try to make our kids part of the fun things with dad.”
The CBN interview is one of the most intimate looks the public has had of the relatively private Karen Pence, and she revealed herself to be a caring, loving mother, wife and above all Christian.
