The Biden administration’s mismanagement of the U.S. southern border can be traced directly to Vice President Kamala Harris, the “border czar” that was put in charge of tackling the “root causes” of illegal immigration in 2021.
Now those policies have reached Harris’ doorstep — literally.
On Friday, she woke up to two more buses filled with illegal immigrants at the Naval Observatory, the vice president’s residence in Washington, D.C.

The buses arrived just hours after the Biden administration let Title 42 expire and tens of thousands of migrants flooded across the U.S.-Mexico border.
Containing 70 migrants, the buses were dispatched by Gov. Greg Abbott, R-Texas., as part of the state’s strategy to share the burden of illegal immigration with some Democrat-led constituencies.
They’re not just arriving at Harris’ doorstep. Overall, Abbott has bused about 17,000 migrants from Texas to Chicago, Philadelphia, New York City and Washington, D.C.
“The ongoing border and humanitarian crisis that Texas and the entire United States are grappling with is a direct result of President Biden’s open-border policies,” Abbott recently told Chicago’s outgoing mayor, Lori Lightfoot. “President Biden is preparing to open the floodgates by ending Title 42 expulsions next week, and Texas is on the front lines of this catastrophe.”
After the expiration of Title 42, “the federal government has estimated that we could have up to 13,000 illegal immigrants cross the U.S.-Mexico border every single day. Some reports indicate that there are nearly 35,000 waiting to cross into El Paso as soon as Title 42 expulsions are no longer in effect,” Abbott said.
“If Chicago can’t deal with 8,000 in less than a year, how are small Texas border communities supposed to manage 13,000 in just one day?”

Voters in the deep blue cities haven’t been happy about the move. In Chicago, a recent community meeting descended into chaos when residents learned 250 illegal immigrants would be housed in their neighborhood.
“Where is the money coming from?” one resident demanded to know. “Migrants don’t pay taxes. I understand helping people, but you have to start with your own home. Why don’t we have those resources with what’s happening here.”
Democrats in Chicago expanded their sanctuary city status as recently as 2021.
