Less than a week after voters overwhelmingly chose President-elect Donald Trump over Vice President Kamala Harris as the next President of the United States, close Harris allies have concocted a desperate “Hail Mary” plan to ensure Harris does not lose power.
The plan?
Installing Harris as a Supreme Court Justice.

CNN commentator Bakari Sellers, a Democrat who served in the South Carolina House of Representatives for the 90th District from 2006 to 2014, floated out a crazy plan to put Harris on the nation’s highest court before Trump takes office.
Sellers’ outlandish idea stems from the idea that Democrats could sway current Justice Sonia Sotomayor off the Supreme Court, giving President Joe Biden an option to appoint Harris to the bench.

Sellers claimed Kamala had a “legal pedigree to sit on the Supreme Court.” A notion that even had the other CNN commentators tilting their head in dismay about.
While Harris was California Attorney General and San Francisco District Attorney, she doesn’t have any judicial experience or even any of the extensive legal and scholarship backgrounds that would you would see from any sitting justice.
Ultimately, Sellers relented that the idea was simply hyperbole and issued to stir up anger amongst Republicans.
“And let Republicans go crazy that I’m even mentioning that option,” Sellers said. “Not only am I floating it, I want to stir up everything. I want people’s heads to explode just so we go into the weekend knowing the chaos is not ended yet.”
Hyperbole aside, the notion of Biden attempting to fast-track a liberal justice on the Supreme Court before his presidency is up has been seriously floated by Democrats in the past week.
As previously reported by The Horn, Democratic senators and other party members are secretly working behind the scenes in an effort to convince the 70-year-old Sotomayor to resign so Biden can replace her with another left-leaning judge before Trump takes office on Jan. 20.
Democrats are using Sotomayor’s deteriorating health as a reason for trying to get her off the court and replaced by someone else.
Sotomayor is a life-long diabetic and in 2018, paramedics were called to her home after the justice suffered “symptoms of low blood sugar.”
According to a Politico report, Democrats see Sotomayor’s situation as a way to seat someone on the Supreme Court before Trump takes office with Republicans in control of the Senate.
One Democrat senator told Politico that the topic has been discussed by members, who realize making an attempt to replace Sotomayor would be “a risky play,” according to the outlet.
Politico reported that many Democrats believe they might be better off focusing on confirming lower-court judges, filling vacancies Trump wouldn’t be able to fill.
Sotomayor is the oldest Democrat-appointed justice on the nation’s highest court and is the first Latina and the third woman to serve on the Supreme Court.
