Former 2020 Democratic presidential candidate and Hawaiian Rep. Tulsi Gabbard grabbed headlines when she spectacularly quit the Democratic Party this week.
But she wasn’t done.
Gabbard went on Fox News star Brian Kilmeade’s radio show on Wednesday and blasted Vice President Kamala Harris and other Democratic Party leaders.
Gabbard said Harris is a “perfect example of everything that is wrong with Washington and the Democratic Party of today” that is “undermining our freedoms.”
“I made the decision to leave the Democratic Party alone because of the fundamental problems with this woke ideological leadership in the party,” Gabbard said.
“My commitment, my oath, my loyalty is to our country,” she told Kilmeade. “And it’s always been country first. And to be associated with a party that is driven by this woke insanity, essentially opposing and undermining our freedoms, is not something that I could do any longer.”
Gabbard said Harris was the perfect example of “woke insanity” that has taken over the Democratic Party.
“We had a person running for president who she claimed to be very proud of her record,” Gabbard said.” And so I took the opportunity to hold her to account for that and explain to the American people why she did what she did.”
“Nothing happened to her when she smoked pot, but she was very happy to keep people in prison and put people in jail for doing the same thing,” she said about Harris’ time as California’s Attorney General.
Kilmeade pressed if Gabbard would join the Republican Party or stay an Independent moving forward. Gabbard declined to say, and would only say she was “independent-minded.”
On Tuesday, Gabbard called on other Democrats to join her and quit the party run by an “elitist cabal.”
