Vice President Kamala Harris lost her cool during a live rally after protesters booed during a campaign rally in Reno, Nevada on Thursday, the latest in a series of demonstrations that have interrupted her recent campaign events.
“We are here because we are fighting for a democracy,” Harris said when initially interrupted. “And understand the difference here. Understand the difference here. Understand the difference here, moving forward, moving forward, understand the difference here.”
As protesters continued, a visibly flustered Harris attempted to pivot.
“What we are looking at is a difference in this election — let’s move forward and see where we are because on the issue, for example, freedom of choice…” The vice president was again interrupted before supporters attempted to drown out the protests with chants of “Ka-ma-la.”
Hours earlier in Phoenix, anti-Israel protesters interrupted Harris multiple times.
“Let’s talk for a moment about Gaza,” Harris responded. “We all want this war to end and to get the hostages out, and I will work on it full-time when I am elected president.”
The demonstrations follow similar interruptions at a Wednesday rally in Madison, Wisconsin, where Harris told protesters, “Listen, we all want the war in Gaza to end and get the hostages out as soon as possible. And I will do everything in my power to make it work.”
Over 650,000 Democrats voted “uninstructed” or “uncommitted” in Democratic presidential primaries earlier this year, protesting the administration’s Middle East policy.
In a tight election, a small percentage of the Democratic Party base abandoning their candidate could be decisive — and hand former President Donald Trump the White House.
