Vice President Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden both abruptly canceled their holiday travel plans Thursday and rushed back to Washington, D.C., raising questions on social media and political observers if there’s something going on behind-the-scenes in the White House.
Others attributed their abrupt change in vacation plans to the collapse of the federal budget plan.

Harris’s office announced she would “not travel to Los Angeles, CA, and will remain in Washington, D.C.”
The Vice President had been scheduled to arrive at Los Angeles International Airport at 11:35 p.m. Thursday, according to the White House itinerary. No public events were scheduled during her planned stay in Brentwood, where she maintains a residence.
Biden was also rushed back to Washington, cutting short his planned Delaware holiday stay. His motorcade traveled directly from the airport to the White House Thursday evening, marking an unexpected change to his traditional Christmas plans in his home state.
Neither the White House nor the Vice President’s office explained the sudden schedule changes, which come as lawmakers have less than 24 hours to pass temporary funding measures to prevent a partial government shutdown before the Christmas holiday.
Congress’ attempt to pass a controversial temporary measure to fund the federal government failed earlier this week after the bloated 1,500+ page bill was discovered to include billions on hundreds and hundreds of pork barrel projects. Public outrage over the massive spending plan scuttled the deal, and Democrats refused to pass a slimmed-down budget Thursday.
