Despite a miserable, failed 2024 presidential campaign that saw her lose by a historic margin to President Donald Trump, rumors of ex-Vice President Kamala Harris seeking another run at the White House continue to swirl.
Now, the news of a potential “Harris 2028” campaign just got bigger after a strange text message that may have just given away her political ambitions.
According to a text message her campaign sent to followers, Harris announced that she will make trips to North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Arkansas “to uplift Democrats and continue building our power in the South.”

According to a CNN report that first broke the news, Harris will appear at fundraisers for the North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia state parties the week of April 13, then follow that with a keynote address at the Arkansas Democrats’ annual Fisher Shackelford Dinner in Little Rock on April 25.
Harris’ gauntlet comes on the heels of a surprise appearance last Friday at the National Women’s Law Center annual gala in Washington, along with another scheduled speech at the end of April.
CNN reported that Harris is expected to make more stops during the summer and fall, following her appearances in the South to help raise funds for those state Democratic parties.
Though she has not made any decision on a repeat run, her geographic choices for this swing are reminiscent of what her 2020 campaign team used, which they dubbed their “SEC strategy,” hoping to win lots of delegates among the heavily Black primary electorates to counter what they expected would be weaker showings in other early voting states.
However, the news was not widely welcomed across social media as some users tore into the announcement on Tuesday.
One said: “She’s literally the reason we have the administration we do today.
“As VP, she was part of the worst presidential administration in US history. Democrats failed the USA by allowing nobody to challenge Biden, then she was installed when Biden was deemed incompetent.
“When you have no clue how to help run a country, how to talk to your independent constituents that affect every election, and spew the garbage that is against what those same people support, then you will fail.”
Another wrote: “She is a totally clueless person that would have been an unmitigated disaster for America if they had been able to install her as president. Thank goodness she was so bad they couldn’t cheat her in.”
If Harris does run, she could be joining an increasingly crowded Democratic primary that includes California Gov. Gavin Newsom.
A recent poll showed voters in her home state of California are rejecting Harris as a presidential option, while Newsom leads the pack with 28% of the state’s voters.
Harris is coming to the end of a six-month national tour to promote her memoir of the campaign, which has put her in front of dozens of friendly audiences.
Harris’ book was published last September — shortly after she passed on entering the California governor’s race.
At the time, she said she wanted to take a break from being in government, while hoping to boost Democrats in this year’s midterms.
