Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden is facing heat over allegations of sexual assault by a former Senate aide.
And he’s getting a message from an unlikely source.
Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.
Thomas, featured on a new PBS documentary “Created Equal: Clarence Thomas In His Own Words,” sounded off on Biden’s conundrum with a brutally honest take on a situation he’s very familiar with.
“It’s a tactic,” he said, referring to the use of sexual assault claims to smear public figures. “And when people see it being successful they don’t realize, they’re gonna be the next ones in the Tower of London.”
Enter presumptive Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.
“It’s just a matter of time,” Thomas said until weaponized sexual harassment allegations are used on liberal lawmakers.
“You allow this to be a precedent in your society, and people might say ‘oh, it’s wonderful, this particular guy’s getting tarred and feathered –– well there’s a lot of tar and there’s a lot of feather and eventually you will be there.”
The Democratic Party has boxed itself in by weaponizing claims of sexual harassment using phrases like “Believe all women.” Based on the standard liberals set, they have no choice but to believe Biden’s accuser — or be labeled hypocrites.
Of course, Thomas knows a thing or two about sexual harassment claims and politics.
Many experts view his 1991 Supreme Court confirmation as one of the first examples of such a tactic being used in the political sphere, and pundits say it has continued to grow ever since — including being used on Thomas’ colleague, Justice Brett Kavanaugh during Kavanaugh’s confirmation haring.
How ironic, then, that Biden stands at the center of a controversy and defended by women in his own party.
After all it was nearly 30 years ago that Biden — a Senator at the time — had been grilling Thomas during the confirmation hearing where his accuser, Anita Hill, and her allegations were put on full display in a media spectacle.
Now, in 2020, it doesn’t look like any of this is going away for Biden anytime soon.
