The controversial $1 million per day giveaway constructed by Elon Musk has been deemed 100% legal according to a Pennsylvania judge.
Yesterday a judge ruled that Musk can proceed with his daily $1 million giveaways to registered swing state voters who signed a pledge to uphold the First and Second Amendments.
According to CNBC, Democratic Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner to block the giveaway, claiming it was a “grift,” a “scam” and an “illegal lottery,” according to the outlet.
Musk’s team argued it isn’t a lottery at all.
“The $1 million recipients are not chosen by chance” Chris Gober, America PAC’s former treasurer, said yesterday, according to CNBC. “We know exactly who will be announced as the $1 million recipient today and tomorrow.”
Philadelphia County Common Pleas Court Judge Angelo Foglietta dismissed the plea.
Musk originally announced his plan to fund the giveaways with his America PAC during an Oct. 19 Trump campaign rally in Pennsylvania.
Krasner’s lawsuit followed a warning from Democratic Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, who called the giveaways “deeply concerning” and suggested law enforcement could look into it.
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) reportedly also wrote Musk a letter warning him that the giveaways may violate laws against paying people to register or vote in elections.
America PAC has dishe out over $17 million to people who have signed the petition and will issue the final payment today, CNBC reported.
