President Joe Biden has a favorite saying that was also one of the favorites of communist dictator Mao Zedong, who killed over 50 million people during the “Great Leap Forward” and communist Chinese cultural revolution.
But unlike former President Donald Trump, the mainstream media lets Biden slide.

During the May 19 Coast Guard commencement address, Biden told graduates that “we need to see more women at the highest levels of command. We have to make sure that women have the chance to succeed and th… thrive throughout their careers.”
“There’s a saying that we use in a different context,” he continued. “A Chinese saying that says, ‘Women hold up half the world.’ It’s an absolutely stupid position not to make sure they represent at least half of what we do.”
That Chinese proverb Biden is quoting comes from Chinese Communist Party propaganda from the 1950s, whose origin may lay with Mao himself.
“Times have changed, and men and women are equal,” Mao said. “Whatever men comrades can accomplish, women comrades can, too. Women hold up half the sky.”

The Coast Guard speech wasn’t the only time Biden reportedly used the CCP-backed phrase. In August 2020, he defended his pick of then-Sen. Kamala Harris as his presidential running mate with the quote.
“The government should look like the people, look like the country. Fifty one percent of the people in this country are women,” Biden told ABC News. “As that old expression goes, women hold up half the sky, and in order to be able to succeed, you’ve got to be dealt in across the board.”
The Daily Wire compared the media’s silence on Biden’s CCP quotes to their outrage over Trump’s 2019 usage of political acvitist Pat Buchanan’s quotes.
They wrote:
“Trump tweets op-ed by Pat Buchanan, whom he derided as a ‘Hitler lover’ in 1999,” wrote USA Today.
“Trump cites Pat Buchanan, man he once called ‘Hitler lover,’ to support border wall,” said The Hill.
“Trump Quotes ‘Hitler Lover’ In Latest Attempt To Push His Border Wall Plan,” read the cranky headline at HuffPost.
The mainstream media can’t claim ignorance to Biden’s use of CCP propaganda. The New York Times itself used the quote in a 2017 op-ed, “For all its flaws, the Communist revolution taught Chinese women to dream big.”

The flaws of communism, of course, cost over 100,000,000 lives and caused untold suffering over the last hundred years.
