As Americans continue to nibble on the remnants of their kids’ trick-or-treat candy, Joe Biden has nothing to sweeten the news: He’s in huge trouble.
For Joe Biden, this Halloween was a real horror story—and the narrator hasn’t come close to the final chapter yet.
Polls show that Biden’s approval numbers are down with voters overall.
And he’s down against former President Donald Trump in almost every corner of the country.
As if that weren’t bad enough, he’s lost the faith of members of his own party: They don’t want him on their ticket in 2024 and are quietly looking for ways to sweep him into early retirement.
And most Americans say he doesn’t have the mental firepower to lead the country right now, less than a year into his term.
And Biden’s popularity is so low that Americans don’t trust his party at all, on almost anything, because they know the party’s leader is incompetent and possibly senile.
Let’s walk through Joe Biden’s House of Horrors one room at a time.
First of all, if he somehow survives to 2024, most Americans would like to see him call a lid on his whole administration.
He’s in a practical dead-heat if he were to face President Donald Trump head-to-head in a rematch three years from now…but that’s deceptive. Trump has been smart and strategic with his campaign rallies and now holds the lead with voters in almost every region of the country—except dark-blue New England.
A new I&I/TIPP Insights poll found that “Trump leads in the Midwest (45.9% vs. 44.9%), the South (45.8% vs. 44.6), and the West (42.4% vs. 39.7%). Biden leads Trump in the Northeast 53.6% to 39.1%.”
It’s not clear how that breaks down state-by-state, but it’s got to be something like an Electoral College landslide—the kind of blow-out not seen since Ronald Reagan in 1980 or Richard Nixon in 1972.
Not only does President Trump lead with every region, but he leads with almost every age group. “Trump now leads Biden among those aged 45-64 (45.8% support Trump vs. 41.8% Biden), those 65 and older (50.7% vs. 39.3%), women (44.9% vs. 41.9%), Whites (50.2% vs. 38.4%).” He’s gained ground with Hispanics, and he’s more popular with Black voters today than during the election.
That’s bad enough—but that’s just the cloakroom. Step into the parlor.
The parlor is the Democratic Party, where more Democrats want Joe Biden out of the party than in the White House for four more years.
A recent poll taken by NPR, PBS, and Marist College showed that 44% of Democratic voters said “their party will have a better chance winning the White House” in 2024 with a different presidential candidate. Only about one-in-three Democrats is backing Biden.
It sounds like they read the I&I/TIPP poll.
On the other hand, Republican voters back Donald Trump by 15 points.
From the parlor, let’s proceed to the dining room—where it looks like most voters think Biden can’t take the heat.
A majority—52%–of voters said Biden wasn’t mentally focused enough to be president back in August. In a new NBC News poll, only 37% believe he’s “competent and effective.” And that was before he decided to take a little nap in the middle of a huge, international meeting. That little siesta probably didn’t help him…and it sure didn’t help his party.
Last stop, come into the dining room, where it looks like the Biden administration (and maybe the Democratic Party) is toast.
The Democrats got “scary” news on Halloween day, delivered by none other than Chuck Todd of Meet The Press.
It turns out 71% of Americans think we’re on the wrong track under Biden and Kamala Harris…but they’re blaming the entire Democratic Party.
Chuck Todd could hardly comprehend the strange numbers on the polls, which show Americans don’t trust Democrats to handle practically any issue in politics.
“Republicans, believe it or not, have double digit leads in dealing with border security, inflation, crime, national security, the economy and, shockingly, on getting things done,” Todd told his audience like he was announcing “The War of the Worlds” live on Sunday morning.
I guess a year of inflation, empty store shelves, jacked-up gas prices, a debacle in Afghanistan, and an uncontrolled border isn’t the way to win Americans’ hearts.
With polls like this, the next stop in the House of Horrors tour will be to show Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer the door, before they throw Joe Biden and Kamala Harris out after them.
