Joe Biden replaced? CNN says…

President Joe Biden’s re-election in the 2024 presidential campaign is far from certain, CNN’s Editor-at-Large Chris Cillizza said.

And there are 11 candidates that are ready to replace him on the Democratic ticket.

“Combine President Joe Biden’s age (he’ll be 82 shortly after the 2024 election) and his ongoing political struggles (he’s mired in the low 40s in job approval) and you get this: a series of stories examining whether Biden runs again and, if not, who might take his place,” Cillizza wrote.

The top of CNN’s replacement list: Vice President Kamala Harris. Despite her repeated failures, Cillizza said she’s the “obvious choice” to replace Biden.

Harris isn’t a sure thing, however. Her dismal polling has her below even Biden in approval, with a massive negative 18 point spread between approval and disapproval among voters.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is next if Harris’ dismal polling proves too distasteful for the Democratic establishment.

Sens. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., are also nearly household names that are most likely to replace Biden.

After that, Cillizza lists popular North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper, who cannot run for reelection because of term limits in the state.

Less popular Govs. Phil Murphy of New Jersey, J.B. Pritzker of Illinois, and Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan may be considered as a suitable Biden replacement as well. The list also named Mitch Landrieu, former lieutenant governor of Louisiana and mayor of New Orleans.

Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo was formerly the governor of Rhode Island before joining the Biden administration. Her loyalty could also be rewarded by Democratic insiders heading towards 2024.

And rounding out the list is Georgia’s Stacey Abrams, who is currently running for governor despite losing the 2018 election. Abrams famously refused to concede after she lost and instead claimed that Gov. Brian Kemp rigged the election in the state.

One candidate CNN failed to mention is the failed 2016 Democratic presidential candidate.

Rumors have swirled for months that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has been eyeing the Oval Office from afar.
