President Joe Biden’s approval ratings are in the toilet.
Poll after poll show him falling behind the presumptive rematch with former President Donald Trump in the 2024 election.
And on Thursday, Biden received more bad news about his political future: Dr. Jill Stein, who helped spoiled Hillary Clinton’s election hopes in 2016, is back.
Stein announced from her Massachusetts home that she’ll be running as the Green Party nominee for president in 2024.
She joins former Democratic primary candidate Robert J. Kennedy, Jr., who is running as an independent. Kennedy is expected to take a large chunk of pro-Biden voters with him on election day.
And the former Green Party candidate in the 2024 election, Cornell West, is also running as an independent and is expected to peel off a small but important chunk of the Democratic Party base.
“Our democracy is on life support” Stein wrote in a statement announcing her candidacy.
“Belief in our political system is at historic lows and the number of Americans who feel that neither establishment party represents them is at a record high. We need real choices on the ballot, because without freedom of choice in elections, there is no democracy. It’s time to revive the promise of democracy.”
Stein said she is joining the presidential race “to offer people a choice outside the failed two-party system, so we can put a pro-worker, anti-war, climate emergency agenda front and center in this election and on the ballot in November.”
In other words: Biden and the Democratic Party just got some very bad news.
