President Joe Biden shrugged off his historic polling collapse and all-time low approval rating during an interview Monday.
According to a USA Today/Suffolk University poll released Monday, just 38 percent of Americans approve of the Biden administration’s job this year. 59 percent disapprove of Biden’s handling of the presidency, an all-time low for his first year.

Biden shrugged off the polling collapse while also disputing the numbers. He pointed the finger at economic and health “anxiety” instead of his performance.
“The poll I saw just before I walked in on another station was my polling number is down, but it’s 48% to 52%,” he said.
“But look, the point is I didn’t run because of the polls,” Biden said. He compared his all-time low polling numbers were close to former Democratic Party Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. Biden instead said gas prices and COVID-19 were to blame.
“A lot of people are worried. Think about this, look…. what 750,000 people have died because of COVID. The psychological scars that has put on so many people,” Biden said. “Schools have not been open because of COVID.”
“We’re in a situation where there’s a lot… a lot of anxiety. Gas prices are up exceedingly high … that’s why I have the attorney general taking a look at whether or not these gas companies are gouging people,” he continued.

Biden said the economy under his administration was booming, despite most American families “not feeling it.”
“Even though we’ve created almost six million jobs since I came into office, we’re in a situation where people don’t, I mean they don’t feel it right now. They don’t feel it,” he claimed.
He also dismissed critics’ attacks that link the Biden administration to recent supply chain issues.
“One of the problems with supply chain is that because of COVID, we’ve had a real shortage of materials,” Biden said. “I mean everything from foodstuff to semiconductors. And a lot of the supply chain is brought into the country through our ports.”
Biden claimed the recent $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill that has passed Congress will help alleviate the supply crunch by upgrading American ports and supply channels, and said the construction will start within “weeks.”
