White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has gone viral in the past for her lack of “anything to share.”
But on Thursday, Jean-Pierre gave a straight answer to a question about the charges against Hunter Biden.
The only follow-up question is… do you believe her?
Fox News reporter Mark Meredith asked Jean-Pierre about President Joe Biden’s ability to pardon his troubled son.
“If I can go back to the first question of the briefing. I know you said not a lot has changed since yesterday and that it’s a personal matter,” Meredith asked. “But from a presidential perspective, is there any possibility that the President would end up pardoning his son?”
Jean-Pierre gave an uncharacteristically curt response: “No.”
Meredith followed up, “Well, is there –”
“I just said no,” Jean-Pierre interrupted. “I just answered.”
She talked over Meredith and moved onto the next question.
Some conservatives seemed skeptical. One pundit tweeted that Hunter Biden, due to his favorable plea deal, would never need a pardon. Another person said that the president’s press secretary is almost certainly lying.

Seung Min Kim, The Washington Post‘s White House reporter, asked the first question of the briefing. “I wanted to ask about the President’s reaction to the legal developments yesterday and with the initial plea deal for his son appearing to fall apart,” Kim asked.
Jean-Pierre gave a canned response.
“This is a personal matter for Hunter Biden. This is, you know, a personal issue. And as you know, this has been done in an independent way by the Department of Justice. It has been led by a Trump-appointed prosecutor,” Jean-Pierre said.
“And, of course — and we have said this multiple times — the President and the First Lady, they love their son and they support — they support him as he is working to rebuild his life. I’m just not going to say anything beyond that.”
The previous day, Jean-Pierre had said the same thing. “I would refer you to Hunter’s representative. I would refer you to the Department of Justice. I don’t have anything to share beyond what I shared at the top,” Jean-Pierre added at the time.
Throughout Wednesday’s conference, Jean-Pierre was batting away questions about the Wednesday death of Hunter Biden’s plea deal, President Biden’s most recent correspondence with Hunter and the president’s stance on gun crimes… including those of his son.
