Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s lawyer made a shocking confession in April — and recently surfaced video of the incident has one former judge warning that Ford’s camp could be in very big trouble.
Video of one of the lawyers that represented Blasey Ford during Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearing in 2018 recently surfaced — and it’s a game changer.
Debra Katz, a far-left activist lawyer, was speaking at the Feminist Legal Theory Conference at the University of Baltimore when she made a huge slip-up.
Katz said that her client’s accusations were politically motivated to undermine Kavanaugh’s confirmation and protect abortion rights — something she and Blasey Ford both denied during the confirmation.
“When he takes a scalpel to Roe v. Wade, we will know who he is — we know his character and we know what motivates him,” Katz said. “And that is important. It is important that we know, and that was part of what motivated Christine.”
Katz said that her and her client wanted to make sure Kavanaugh always had “an asterisk next to his name.”
That’s big trouble for Blasey Ford, whose accusations were never substantiated by any of the alleged eyewitnesses. Just two months after Kavanaugh was confirmed, Blasey Ford also quietly withdrew all her accusations and asked that there not be a formal federal investigation.
This could be big trouble for Blasey Ford. False, politically-motivated accusations — especially on as big a public scale as a Supreme Court nomination hearing — mean potential jail time.
That’s according to Judge Andrew Napolitano, Fox News’ Senior Legal Analyst, who said he was shocked that Katz “would talk about the motivations of her client” and said the Department of Justice could soon open an investigation.
“What’s the worst-case scenario here — did she make this whole story up?” Napolitano asked. “That would be perjury and probably conspiracy.”
“Others might have been involved. Does the Justice Department want to investigate this? Or is this just a lawyer saying ‘you know, we lost this, he is on the court. We don’t like him,” he said.
Napolitano’s remarks gained the attention of Sen.Thom Tillis, who later told Fox News’ Harris Faulkner that the remarks may, indeed, warrant the opening of a formal investigation into perjury and conspiracy.
“I think it’s worth just checking off the facts,” Tillis said in interview on Faulkner’s show “Outnumbered Overtime.”
“We had a number of people on the other side of the aisle undermining the credibility of the [Senate Judiciary] committee by threatening to expose information that was committee confidential,” he said.
“We have to always make sure that when people come and give sworn testimony before any congressional committee, that it’s truthful and accurate. Any time that you see something like this, it’s probably worth looking into,” he said.
The Daily Caller first reported on Katz’ remarks on Wednesday.
