Congressional Democrats have mocked President Trump for declaring illegal immigration a national emergency—but one congressman has sunk to an absurd new low.
He said illegal aliens are less of a danger to Americans than “double bacon cheeseburgers”!
Rep. Jim Himes, a political ally of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, wrote on Twitter that Trump set an “interesting precedent” by declaring a national emergency over our uncontrolled borders—something Himes considers no problem at all.
Instead of trying to stop the flow of crime and drugs into the United States from Mexico, Himes wrote out a list of “things killing many more Americans than illegal immigration.”
The Connecticut Democrat named “drug overdoses,” “gun violence,” and “drunk driving” before he totally went off the rails.
Himes wrote that “double bacon cheeseburgers” and the “effects of climate change” posed a greater threat than violent criminal aliens like MS-13.
Then Himes signed off with a smart-alecky, “Just sayin’.”
Huh. A National Emergency declaration….interesting precedent.
Here are things killing many more Americans than illegal immigration:
Drug overdoses.
Gun violence.
Double bacon cheeseburgers.
Drunk driving.
Effects of climate change.Just sayin’

But Himes’ effort to slam-dunk on the president blew up in his face—spectacularly.
Many Americans die of “drug overdoses,” because 90% of all heroin sold in the U.S. comes across the Mexican border.
“Drunk driving” is so common among illegal aliens that even Barack Obama’s uncle got arrested for it. He even got to stay in the U.S. anyway.
And the illegal aliens who make up MS-13 aren’t exactly strangers to “gun violence.”
The fact is that 4,000 criminal aliens who committed murder ended up in ICE’s custody, ready to be deported, in just the past two years.
ICE arrested another 22,000 illegal immigrants who committed sex crimes—from rape, to child pornography, to gross sexual imposition—in the same time frame.
All in all, more than one out of every four people in federal prisons are illegal immigrants.
It’s true that some issues—like bad health choices—kill too many Americans…but that doesn’t mean Trump should do nothing about an out-of-control border.
Himes let the truth drop a day later, when he admitted he’s really in a death match with the president over raw power.
“In this country, Congress decides where the money gets spent and Congress decided against that promise the president made in the election,” Himes told local television.
Congressional Democrats like Himes want to deny President Trump a “win” for his border wall…but Himes is also an extremist on immigration.
Jim Himes just may be the biggest Open Borders fanatic you’ve never heard of.
He voted against Kate’s Law, named for Kate Steinle, the young woman murdered in San Francisco by an illegal immigrant who had been deported five times.
Himes voted against a bill to cut off federal funds from sanctuary cities—and even against the “Criminal Alien Gang Member Removal Act,” which would deport any illegal immigrant suspected of belonging to a violent gang like MS-13.
Illegals never had a bigger friend than Himes in the Capitol, or on TV.
Himes tried to shout down Fox News anchor Trish Regan last year when she revealed that an illegal immigrant caravan headed for the United States contained at least 500 criminals.
“You’re lying!” Himes screamed…but journalists later confirmed Regan’s report.
Then again, Himes doesn’t exactly have to worry about being shot or stabbed by roving illegal gang members in his neighborhood. If you looked up “globalist elitist” in the dictionary, you’d see Himes’ picture.
He was born overseas—in Peru—to parents who worked for the Ford Foundation and the UN. He went to Harvard, then Oxford, then worked for Goldman Sachs.
Now, he’s a congressman, living in an elite, upscale area—and thanks to him, the “little” people of Connecticut have to live in fear.
In 2007, MS-13 defaced a Vietnam veterans memorial in Long Wharf, Connecticut—practically in Himes’ back yard!
“This hurts me deep to my heart,” Vietnam Army veteran Emery Linton Sr. told WTNH-TV.
Himes, who had a net worth of more than $4.3 million in 2010, can afford the safety he’s denying other people in his state, and across the country.
One mother, whose son was murdered by an illegal alien, said that a border crisis “may seem ‘manufactured’ to (Democrats), because they are sitting safely behind walls, but for those of us out in regular America, we are victims.”
“We are prone to the victimization of illegal aliens and crime,” said Julie Golvach, whose son, Spencer, was shot at a traffic light by an illegal in Houston.
She’s not swallowing Himes’ line about bacon double-cheeseburgers.
