Indiana University’s first ever national championship was overshadowed by an ugly postgame fight that led to coaches separating players during the Hoosier’s celebration.
In the moments after the Hoosiers claimed the CFP National Championship with a 27-21 win over the Miami Hurricanes, Miami’s Mark Fletcher was throwing punches at Tyrique Tucker on the field.
In now viral footage, Fletcher, a 6-foot-2, 225-pound running back, appeared to chase down the 302-pound defensive tackle before a Miami staffer stepped in.

There was no comment from the Miami side as to what set off the incident.
Despite the loss, Fletcher was a bright spot for the Hurricanes running for 112 yards on 17 carries, scoring a pair of touchdowns in the effort. He added one reception for eight yards.
Before last night’s national championship victory, which capped a perfect 16-0 season, Indiana football had lost 715 games — the second most in FBS history, just one behind Northwestern, completing one of the most remarkable two-year turnarounds in history.
