Controversial Rep. Ilhan Omar is facing numerous scandals that could threaten real jail time, and he silence is deafening.
The Minnesota Democrat refused to answer any questions when Fox News recently confronted her in the halls of Congress. Omar has been asked about her direct ties to the “Feeding Our Future” scandal that federal prosecutors say cost taxpayers $250 million in fraud alone, part of an estimated $9 billion in total fraud from Minnesota’s social services programs.
“Did you ask Minnesota Democrats to block the subpoena for the investigation of Feeding Our Future on the state level?”
Omar refused to answer.
“Would you cooperate with that subpoena and provide documents if they request it here in the House Oversight Committee?” Omar didn’t answer that either.

The silence is part of a pattern from Omar’s office. The Minnesota House Fraud Prevention and State Agency Oversight Committee invited Omar to testify earlier this month, requesting communications on how she repeatedly helped expand programs completely riddled with billions in fraud.
The committee specifically zeroed in on a Somali-language TV appearance in which Omar highlighted Safari Restaurant, a restaurant later linked to the fraud, as a free meal distribution site.
Once again, Omar was completely silent.
“She didn’t even respond, ghosted us,” committee chair state Rep. Kristin Robbins told Fox News.
Democrats then blocked a Republican-led subpoena vote in the committee.
Omar’s original MEALS Act was a federal COVID-19 relief measure she sponsored in 2020 and is at the center of the fraud probe. Republicans say the bill may have deliberately enabled the fraud by throwing out safeguards, making it hard to verify whether children were actually being fed. Those loosened safeguards opened the door that fraudsters walked through… and walked out with billions in taxpayer funds in their pockets.
The woman now sitting in a Minnesota jail facing a possible 50-year prison sentence has said that Omar’s connection goes well beyond just this legislation.
Aimee Bock, founder of Feeding Our Future and the central figure in the federal fraud prosecution, gave a jailhouse interview to The New York Post last week and pointed directly at Omar’s office.
“A lot of the sites were working directly with her, being that a lot of the operators were from the same Somali community,” Bock said. “There were a lot of people that had been reaching out to her office and staff — and I presume her personally — to work through some of those gaps with the waivers.”
The Minnesota House Fraud Prevention Committee released an 84-page final report last week concluding that the Walz administration fostered a “culture of tolerance” that allowed fraudsters to steal billions of taxpayer dollars. The report also came after hundreds of whistleblower tips alleging oversight failures were ignored by Walz.
