Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, has filed a lawsuit against Fox News, accusing the network of unlawfully publishing explicit images of him in a streaming series.
The legal action, filed in Manhattan state court, centers on “The Trial of Hunter Biden,” a program that aired on Fox Nation in 2022.
According to the lawsuit, the series featured a “mock trial” of Hunter Biden on charges he has not actually faced. The program allegedly included nude images and depictions of Biden engaged in sexual acts, which the lawsuit claims were disseminated without his consent, violating New York’s revenge porn law.
Fox News has fired back at the lawsuit, calling it “entirely politically motivated” and “devoid of merit.”
The network acknowledged receiving a letter from Biden’s attorneys in April 2024 demanding the removal of the content from streaming platforms. Fox claims the program was removed within days of receiving the letter “in an abundance of caution.”
The network’s statement also emphasized Hunter Biden’s status as a public figure and recent legal troubles, noting:
“Hunter Biden is a public figure who has been the subject of multiple investigations and is now a convicted felon. Consistent with the First Amendment, Fox News has accurately covered the newsworthy events of Mr. Biden’s own making.”
This legal action comes in the wake of Hunter Biden’s recent conviction on three felony charges related to a 2018 gun purchase.
Prosecutors successfully argued that Biden lied on a mandatory gun-purchase form by claiming he was not illegally using or addicted to drugs at the time.
Hunter’s lawsuit seeks both compensatory and punitive damages, as well as an order directing Fox to remove any remaining copies of the explicit images.
This case highlights the ongoing scrutiny faced by the Biden family, particularly Hunter Biden, whose personal struggles and controversial international business dealings have been a frequent subject of political debate.
