A new scandal has come from the Hunter Biden email cache — and this one has ensnared a former FBI director.
According to reports, ex-FBI chief Louis Freeh donated $100,000 to a trust for President Joe Biden’s grandchildren — the late Beau Biden’s kids — and emailed the president’s other son Hunter about hoping to talk “some very good and profitable matters” after the gift.
“Freeh apparently made the gift in April 2016 — when Biden was the outgoing vice president — and shortly before he told Biden’s son Hunter, ‘I would be delighted to do future work with you,'” The New York Post reported the July 8, 2016 email said.
One email read, in part —
Thank you Hunter and I would be delighted to do future work with you. I also spoke to Dad a few weeks ago and would like to explore with him some future work options. I believe that working together on these (and other legal) matter would be of value, fun and rewarding.
In another email, Freeh told Hunter that he’d seen Joe Biden at church.
He asked for personal contact information to go over “profitable matters .. with minimal time” required from Hunter’s father.
I [saw] Dad in St Joe’s and the 900a today and he said hi walking back from communion–I didn’t get the chance to return greetings.
If you have his cell and a personal email, I’d like to have his contacts (will protect). I would still like to persuade him to associate with me and FSS — as we have some very good and profitable matters which he could enhance with minimal time.
FSS refers to the law firm Freeh, Sporkin, and Sullivan that Freeh was a partner in at the time.
A month later, he emailed Hunter to remind him of the $100,000 gift he’d given the Biden family (the late Beau’s wife, Hallie).
As you know, our family foundation made a $100k contribution to Hallie’s children’s trust last year. My accountants … now advise that since the grant did not go to a 501(c) organization, it was not a proper foundation gift. So we’ve been in touch with the IRS and PWC and want to correct the situation as follows: I’ll make a new $100k gift to Haley’s trust, and Hallie’s trust with reimburse the foundation by paying it $100k.
I can handle this with the lawyers … but wanted to let you know first before doing anything-so it’s clear what we’re trying to do.
“Thanks so much and of course no burden at all,” Hunter responded later that same day.
The emails don’t indicate if Freeh and Hunter ever formally involved Joe Biden in any business deals, or what specifically Freeh had in mind.
Hunter’s emails were found inside a damaged laptop at a small Wilmington, Delaware computer repair shop. The owner said the laptop was dropped off in 2019 and never retrieved.
Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani later got possession of the laptop but the story was largely ignored by the mainstream media in the lead-up to the 2020 election between former President Donald Trump and Joe Biden.
Hunter Biden is currently being investigated by the FBI and possibly the IRS.
