America is locked in a pitched battle with the coronavirus pandemic. People are getting sick… people are dying… and countless Americans are out of work.
So, of course, two-time failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton thought this would be the perfect time to play politics.

And her recent comments have left Americans furious.
In an interview late last week with a Hollywood Reporter podcast, Clinton took a shot at President Donald Trump’s handling of the pandemic, saying, “I know I would have done a better job.”
The backlash on social media was swift and furious. Some wondered why Clinton was STILL talking about herself, and not current Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.
Twitter users chimed in with other such criticisms as:
- “Why does anyone continue to interview, or give media space to, this political has-been?”
- “If we need expert advice on how to bleach hard drives we’ll call her.”
- “Just like the job she did in Benghazi.”

Of course, suggesting that Clinton would have successfully handled a global pandemic ignores the fact that she doesn’t exactly have an impressive record of political achievements.
The only elected office she ever held was as a New York senator… after she specifically cherry-picked the far-left state because she presumably couldn’t get elected in many other states.
As fact-checking website Politifact points out, Senator Hillary Clinton was the main sponsor on only three bills that ever became law — and two of them involved renaming a highway and a post office. It’s not exactly the type of policy leadership America needs to pull itself out of a pandemic.
And, of course, Clinton made matters worse by suggesting on Twitter, in a response to singer Barbra Streisand, that she would have at least “read my damn briefs” as part of her coronavirus response.
I would have read my damn briefs, Barbra, that's for sure. https://t.co/YSZS0Lvqo9

That was a shot at unfounded — and repeatedly debunked — accusations that Trump isn’t attentive enough during briefings.

Clinton’s claim was especially ironic given her performance as Secretary of State during former President Barack Obama’s administration. She was accused of ignoring intelligence briefings leading up to deadly attacks on America’s diplomatic outpost in Benghazi, Libya in 2012.
Now is the time for Americans to band together, keep each other safe, and do the hard work of ending the coronavirus pandemic. But Clinton won’t stop playing politics, no matter what her record says.
She just can’t seem to help herself, even for the good of America.
