Concerns about President Joe Biden’s advanced age and diminished mental capacity are spilling out of Democratic Party leadership through their contacts in the mainstream media.
Former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton dropped a bombshell on President Joe Biden’s administration over the weekend, admitting that criticism of Biden’s age is a “legitimate issue” in his reelection campaign against rival Donald Trump.
In an MSNBC interview, Clinton stated —
I talked to people in the White House all the time, and you know, they know it’s an issue, but as I like to say, ‘look, it’s a legitimate issue.’ It’s a legitimate issue for Trump who’s only three years younger, right?
But she also promised to support Biden’s bid to retake the White House “because of the merits.”
“I think he has done a really good job as president. I think Biden also should lean into the fact that he’s experienced, and that experience is not just in the political arena,” she said.
“It’s like, the stuff of… you know, human experience, character, wisdom,” Clinton stated.
Clinton also recommended Biden make a joke about his concerning senior moments. Biden “should kid more about it” to deflect critics questioning his mental capacity.
Former top Bill Clinton strategist James Carville, meanwhile, said Biden wasn’t doing enough to deflect criticism. Carville said Biden declining a major Super Bowl interview highlighted doubts, bluntly stating:
It’s the biggest television audience, not even close, and you get a chance to do a 20-25-minute interview on that day. And you don’t do it? That’s a kind of sign that the staff or yourself doesn’t have much confidence in you. There’s no other way to read this.
Earlier, longtime Democrat commentator Paul Begala warned presidential age visibly manifested in Special Counsel Robert Hur’s report was “terrible for Democrats.”
Hur’s report recommended no charges against Biden for keeping classified documents hidden in his Delaware garage for years, in part because Biden would be seen by a jury as a “sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.”
