The turmoil at the top of cable has left television insiders wondering what could be next for cable news — and according to rumors, stars at Fox News have considered a radical move.
Multiple stars at the network have reportedly reached out to former Fox News star Tucker Carlson about joining his new Twitter show after his massive success on the platform.
Carlson’s show has received tens of millions of views, including more than 150 million views on his interview with former President Donald Trump.
After Carlson’s firing from Fox News, many of his coworkers entertained the idea of joining him when their contracts expire.
“Carlson’s Twitter move could have additional reverberations with talent at the network. A handful of Fox anchors have reached out to Carlson directly or had their surrogates contact him to say they are eager to join whatever venture he starts on Twitter when their contracts are up, according to sources,” according to a Variety report from May.
Carlson was unceremoniously removed from the network as part of a secret deal within the Dominion Voting Systems settlement.
Dominion wanted Carlson — the number one rated star on cable news — fired as punishment, and Fox News agreed to sideline him.
Carlson was abruptly removed from the airwaves but hasn’t been released from his contract, which runs through 2025.
Despite legal warnings from Fox News, Carlson launched his own social media program almost immediately.
The competition appears unwelcome at Fox News.
