Fox News star Mark Levin says there’s another side to the Democratic Party’s defense of Joint Chief of Staff Mark Milley.
It’s not just to cover for Milley, Levin told fellow Fox News star Sean Hannity on Monday.
It’s because Democrats are trying to protect House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who critics said conspired with Milley to undermine former President Donald Trump during his last days in office.
According to the upcoming book Peril, Milley was contacted by Pelosi one day after the Capitol riot on January 6. Milley then contacted the leaders of foreign militaries to reassure them that he wouldn’t allow Trump to issue certain military orders. He also allegedly contacted other generals and reportedly said all orders from Trump had to pass by him.
Milley is set to appear at a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing on Sept. 28. Levin predicted the Democrats on the committee will rush to defend Milley… as a way to protect Pelosi.
“The Democrat Party will do everything they can to run interference for Milley” when he appears on Capitol Hill.
“They’re running interference for Milley because they’re running interference for Nancy Pelosi,” Levin said.
“Nancy Pelosi has a key role in this,” he said.
“There’s a telephone conversation between Nancy Pelosi and General Milley in which she — who is absolutely nuts — accuses the president of the time, Trump, of being crazy.”
“She talks about nuclear weapons, and Milley says he agrees with her completely,” the Fox News star continued.
“He goes back to the Pentagon, he calls in his subordinates and they talk about, ‘What is our process?’ and, ‘Let’s go over it,’ for using nuclear weapons,” Levin told Hannity.
“President Trump never hinted ever about using nuclear weapons, there’s no basis for this whatsoever,” he pointed out.
Levin also hit journalists Bob Woodward and Robert Costa the authors of “Peril” for keeping the information under wraps.
“I might add, as a footnote, I don’t know who’s more loathsome, Milley — who is loathsome — or Woodward and Costa,” Levin said about the authors of the forthcoming book.
“If they’re all standing by this … they sat on it for months and months when the American people should have known. When Congress should have known. And, of course, the people in the military should have known that we have a rogue general.”
“It’s appalling what The Washington Post has done with this country,” Levin said. “Just as bad as Milley.”
Woodward defended Milley’s actions on a recent appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
“People say he’s trying to take over some of the commander in chief’s power. No,” Woodward said Tuesday.
“What he is doing is setting in motion sensible precautions, if you look at the procedures which are top secret, he’s supposed to be involved and he’s just saying we’re going to adhere to that process to protect the country from … the kind of, we’ve lost sight of what nuclear weapons can do.”
