Fox News host Jesse Watters had a front-row seat to the most satisfying mainstream media implosion in years.
And in typical Watters fashion, he made the most of the moment.
Watters devoted a segment of his show Thursday to the spectacular firing of CBS News “60 Minutes” star Scott Pelley. His guest, conservative star Dana Loesch, said Pelly was fired unceremoniously over his “diva behavior.”
“They’re bloated. They’re woke. And they’re stuck in the past,” Watters said.

He wasn’t alone. The moment Pelley’s firing went public, CBS insiders came out of the woodwork and attacked the 68-year-old anchor.
“Arrogant, emotional, always on his high horse,” a former CBS News executive told The Daily Mail. “I know because I’ve tried to deal with Scott.”
Pelley’s Monday’s meltdown, when he highjacked new executive producer Nick Bilton’s first day on the job to publicly humiliate him and accuse CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss of “murdering” the show, was entirely in character said the insider.
“Scott is very emotional. He lost control,” the source said. “The words he chose to use, leaking it, whoever did — it feels deliberate.”
“It’s hubris. Arrogance,” the source said about CBS News stars. “They think they’re infallible and are not willing to adapt or evolve to anything. They were never going to give Nick a chance. Their strategy has worked — until now.”
A second CBS insider said staffers at the network were happy about the purge at “60 Minutes.” After Weiss fired correspondents Sharyn Alfonsi and Cecilia Vega, along with veteran executive producer Tanya Simon, some CBS employees were gleeful after years of being frustrated by the elitist clique.
“It’s about time 60 got theirs,” a CBS News staffer said, according to The Daily Mail. “They are not brokenhearted about this whole thing at ’60 Minutes,’ because they made them hate them.”
Pelley and his ilk all “leaned progressive, and they didn’t even realize they did. It’s in their DNA. They weren’t willing to look at stories at a new angle.”
The leaked recording from Monday’s meeting confirmed the details. Pelley raged and ranted that Weiss wasn’t leftist enough.
“She is murdering ’60 Minutes.’ She does not love this place. She was brought in to kill it, and she’s been doing exactly that.”
“You come into our house and expect to be welcome? Why was Tanya Simon fired? Why was Sharyn fired? Why was Cecilia fired?…We don’t trust you,” he said to his new boss.
Pelley was fired shortly thereafter.
“Your antipathy to the future of the show has come through loud and clear. And I have heard you.”
For Fox News and conservatives who watched Pelley spend years attacking Trump from the “60 Minutes” anchor chair, including a 2025 commencement address at Wake Forest in which he told graduates they were “the vanguard against ignorance,” the collapse has been enormously satisfying.
Pelley is now the fourth major “60 Minutes” figure to exit since February. The show has gone from a CBS News’ crown jewel to a shattered newsroom with only three correspondents left standing.
Watters could barely contain himself.
