Fox News host Greg Gutfeld unleashed on liberal co-host Jessica Tarlov during Monday’s “The Five” after she attempted to explain away the bloody assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Gutfeld questioned why political violence appears to be happening exclusively from the left after the September 10 murder of Kirk at Utah Valley University in Orem by 22-year-old Tyler Robinson.
“What is interesting here is, why is only this happening on the left and not the right?” Gutfeld asked. “That’s all we need to know. We don’t need more information. We don’t need it.”
Tarlov brought up the case of Democratic Minnesota House leader Melissa Hortman, who was murdered by a gunman over the summer.
“What about Melissa Hortman?” Tarlov asked. The question immediately set Gutfeld off.
“You wanna talk about Melissa Hortman?” he shouted. “Did you know her name before it happened? None of us did. None of us were spending every single day talking about Mrs Hortman – I never heard of her until after she died.”
When Tarlov asked if that meant Hortman’s death didn’t matter, Gutfeld exploded.
“Don’t play that bulls*** with me!” he yelled. “You know what I’m talking… What I’m saying is there was no demonization, amplification about that woman before she died. It was a specific crime against her by somebody who knew her.”
The public execution of a nationally prominent conservative figure in front of thousands has shocked America to its core, Gutfeld explained.
“The fact of the matter is, the ‘both sides’ argument not only doesn’t fly, but we don’t care. We don’t care about your ‘both sides’ argument. That s*** is dead,” Gutfeld said. “For one thing, there’s no cognitive dissonance on our side. On your side, your beliefs do not match reality. So, you’re coming up with these rationalizations like ‘What about this?’ Or ‘What about that?'”
“We are not doing that because we saw it happen. We saw a young, bright man assassinated. And we know who did it,” Gutfeld said. “We are not coming up with rationalizations. We are calm. We are honest. And we are resolute. We’re not defensive!”
“I understand the defensiveness. I understand why people are saying, ‘What about this?’ and ‘What about that?’ Because if you have to face the underlying facts on this, your life is gonna fall apart because you’re gonna realize you’re not the good guys,” he warned.

New details have emerged about Robinson’s motivations for assassinating Kirk.
FBI Director Kash Patel revealed that Robinson had been radicalized and had written a note about being able to “take out” Kirk to silence his conservative views. Interviews with Robinson’s family have revealed that they “collectively told investigators that [Robinson] subscribed to left-wing ideology” and was motivated by “hatred for what Charlie stood for.”
The bloody assassination of Kirk comes after multiple attempts against President Donald Trump’s life, one of which came within millimeters of success. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro’s home was targeted by a pro-Hamas supporter, which Gutfeld noted the media avoided because of the political motivations.
Later in the show, Gutfeld apologized for his use of profanity and to Tarlov for his outburst, while Tarlov told viewers she was “not mad at Greg.”
Recent polling shows a significant percentage of American liberals feel political violence can be justified and even celebrated. The poll was conducted after Charlie Kirk’s assassination.
