Longtime war correspondent Lara Logan ventured into Mexico on a Fox News assignment to cover the ongoing illegal immigration crisis — and got more than she bargained for.
She was in the sex trafficking town of Tenancingo, shooting her forthcoming Fox Nation show, “Lara Logan Has No Agenda,” when corrupt police confronted the entire film crew.
Logan had been riding along as a special guest of the Homeland Security Special Investigations unit when their car was blockaded by several police trucks.
Thomas Countermine, a special agent guiding Logan around the city, advised her film crew to stop pointing their cameras at the police officers.
Another special agent based in Mexico City, Mexico, had gotten out of the car to deescalate the situation — the cops told the special agent and Logan’s team that a mob had formed and had been heading their way ever since they had started driving through the town.
According to the police, a similar group of people had only a week ago lynched people who were asking too many questions — but Logan saw through the threat.
“The police are guardians of the traffickers and their’ secrets,” Logan said, “moving in to force us out.”
According to Fox News, the officers threatened Logan and the crew with death, as the police are “determined to protect the enterprise.”
Agent Countermine had explained to Logan that he has never seen a city quite like it — “an entire town built on sex trafficking” — as Logan put it. Countermine also noted that this isn’t just Mexico’s problem.
The issue seems to get worse every time the U.S.-Mexico border is in crisis.
“Millions and millions and millions of dollars, hundreds, probably thousands of women have come from Tenacingo to our area in the United States, send money back and basically built this town,” he said.
Fox wrote that Logan’s program, scheduled to appear of Fox Nation, will be a four-part documentary series of many hot-button issues concerning the world today.
