This Saturday, President Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, will become the latest Fox News personality.
“My View with Lara Trump” premieres on Fox News this weekend and will change the networks primetime lineup. The network is moving “One Nation with Brian Kilmeade,” to the Sunday 10:00pm ET slot to make room.
It marks the first time in television history a relative of a sitting president to host a show on a major TV network.
Ahead of the show’s debut, details are beginning to emerge about what viewers — and DC — can expect from Lara Trump’s show.
And, how she will work with her father-in-law.
Earlier this month, Fox News Media Chief Executive Officer Suzanne Scott announced Lara Trump will be next star of the booming cable news network.
“A gifted communicator who knows how to connect to the viewers, successful entrepreneur and working mother, Lara’s innate understanding of the American public and today’s political landscape will be a compelling addition to our weekend lineup,” Scott said.
“My View with Lara Trump” will air every Saturday at 9 p.m. ET, according to a statement from Fox News.
“I’m thrilled to bring my voice back to FOX News, talk directly with the American people, and highlight what makes this country so great. As I cover the success of The Golden Age of America, I look forward to where this time will lead our country and where this opportunity will lead me in the future,” Lara Trump said of the move to TV.
Lara Trump has been upfront that despite her personal, family relationship with President Trump, it makes her a major asset.
“I think it’s an asset,” Lara, who is married to President Trump’s son Eric, told The New York Post in an interview this week.
“There are very few people who have the ability to reach out to so many of these folks and have them sit down for a more personal interview and I’m really excited to do it.”
As for what viewers can expect from her show?
Do not expect a slew of talking heads.
“My View” is more of an analysis-based show – not “the fast-paced, crazy news cycle” we’ve grown accustomed to, Lara said.
According to her interview with The New Y0rk Post, Lara said she aims to give viewers an inside look at the biggest “movers and shakers” running the White House – like following Robert F. Kennedy Jr. through a day managing the health department or shadowing Elon Musk at the Department of Government Efficiency.
“Certainly you can expect that there’s one particular family member who I definitely want to interview,” she said.
Her first show will feature sit-down interviews with prominent women in the Trump administration, including Attorney General Pam Bondi, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.
She also signaled interest in meeting with Linda McMahon, Trump’s Department of Education pick, to discuss solutions to the country’s lackluster education scores.
“You’ve heard a lot about Donald Trump in a very negative sense when it comes to women,” Lara told The Post.
“The truth is that Donald Trump surrounds himself with the best and the brightest, and many of those people happen to be women, and he has placed women, specifically in this administration, in traditionally male-dominated positions and in some of the most important positions.”
She added that as a mother, she’s particularly interested in covering stories related to children’s wellbeing, like food quality and educational failures in the US.
Lara Trump’s new show at Fox follows a career in media and politics for Lara, who first worked as a producer on “Inside Edition” for about four years.
She has hosted a web series entitled “The Right View” since 2020 and served as a Fox News contributor from 2021-2022.
And her new gig isn’t completely out of the ordinary.
Jenna Bush Hager joined the “Today” show in 2009 just a few months after her father, former President George W. Bush, left office.
