Fox News Channel has remained the most watched network on basic cable for a whopping 65 weeks in a row, according to Nielsen data collected from May 9 to May 15 and later reviewed by Fox News Digital.
In fact, the network aired 98 of the top 100 programs on basic cable. It was averaging 1.5 million viewers at any given time.
Plus, FNC hosted each of the five most watched shows on cable news: Hannity, The Five, Jesse Watters Primetime, Tucker Carlson Tonight and Special Report with Bret Baier.
The Five remained the most watched program on cable news, despite its early timeslot. Meanwhile, Tucker Carlson Tonight finished first among advertisers’ favorite demographic: viewers between the ages of 25 and 54.
Unfiltered with Dan Bongino has become cable TV’s most watched newscast on Saturdays, with 1.5 average viewers. Sunday Morning Futures claimed a similar title for Sunday, with 1.7 million viewers of its own.
In the morning, Fox News Channel performed especially well. FOX & Friends averaged 1.4 million views, compared to 388,000 viewers for CNN’s New Day and 796,000 viewers for MSNBC’s Morning Joe.
Granted, Fox News Channel finished second in average number of viewers during primetime hours, from 8 to 11. On basic cable, the network finished behind TNT, with its coverage of the basketball playoffs.
Still, Fox News has finished far ahead of the other cable news networks. CNN and MSNBC were struggling that week, despite MSNBC’s recent decision to hire former White House press secretary Jen Psaki.
MSNBC finished in 26th place among basic cable networks… behind outlets like TLC, Lifetime and Discovery.
It attracted an average of only 68,000 daily viewers between the ages of 25 and 54. Not only is MSNBC failing to grab the demographic most coveted by advertisers, but the liberal network is also failing to attract younger viewers.
Meanwhile, CNN suffered its worst week of the year–with both total viewers and viewers from this critical demographic.
Every program on CNN was averaging less than a million viewers, and CNN finished outside the top 10 cable networks.
In other words, Fox News came out very, very far ahead among the three biggest networks in cable news. It averaged 268 more viewers than CNN during primetime. In other timeslots, FNC was even competing with traditional satellite networks.
On Fox News, Gutfeld! was averaging 1.9 million viewers, more than Jimmy Kimmel Live! on ABC and The Tonight Show on NBC.
