FBI documents suggest that former special counsel Robert Mueller and his team may have intentionally covered-up the innocence of Donald Trump Jr.
The outspoken son of the President was forced into Muller’s two-year investigation after his meeting with a group of Russians at Trump Tower was called into question.
Trump Jr. denied all wrongdoing.
According to FBI documents, it’s likely that the Mueller team knew he was telling the truth the whole time –– but revealing it would’ve exonerated the Trump team, so they kept quiet.
On July 8, 2017, The New York Times broke the news about the Trump Tower meeting with a Moscow attorney “linked to the Kremlin.”
The mainstream media and left-wing pundits speculated frequently that the meeting was proof of collusion between the president and Russia.
And although the president’s son admitted that someone promised him information about illegal contributions made by Russians to Hillary Clinton, the meeting actually ended up being about “the adoption of Russian children” — and ended very shortly.
The liberal media called Trump, Jr. a liar.
In fact, “the FBI would eventually suggest Donald Trump Jr. was lying” as well, noted reporter John Solomon.
But in actuality, behind the scenes, the FBI knew Trump Jr. was telling the truth. Because Mueller’s team got the word straight from the one person in the Trump Tower meeting who had no agenda: the translator.
The Russian translator, Anatoli Samochornov, said a Moscow attorney named Natalia Veselnitskya hired him for the meeting with Don Jr., Jared Kushner, and Paul Manafort on June 9, 2016. The meeting was business as usual.
Samochornov “said there was no discussion about the 2016 United States presidential election or collusion between the Russian government and the Trump Campaign at the meeting.”
This is all mentioned in the quietly released FBI “302” report recently.
“There was no smoking gun, according to Samochornov. There was not a discussion about ‘dirt’ on Hillary Clinton. Samochornov did not think Hillary Clinton was mentioned by name at the meeting,” it reads.
Instead, Veselnitskya changed the topic to adopting Russian children. The meeting was so boring that Manafort looked at his phone the whole time, and Kushner got up and left “five to seven minutes after it began.”
The translator said they didn’t exchange any information, and “there was no follow-up to that meeting.”
That lines up perfectly with what Donald Trump Jr. has always said about the meeting.
Donald Jr., referencing Veselnitskya, said a “woman stated that she had information that individuals connected to Russia were funding the Democratic National Committee and supporting Ms. Clinton,” but “her statements were vague, ambiguous and made no sense.”
“There was no further contact or follow-up of any kind,” Trump, Jr. said.
Just a few days later, the Samochornov told the FBI “Donald Trump Jr.’s account” about the meeting “was accurate.”
The FBI report says “Samochornov was not particularly fond of Donald Trump Jr.” — meaning he had no reason to lie to protect the president’s son.
Either Mueller ignored this fact accidentally or on purpose, either of which is dangerous.
In fact, if you just read the Mueller Report, the fact that the translator exonerated Trump Jr. was never mentioned. Even though 14 pages of his written report deal with the Trump Tower meeting, not one single sentence included what the official translator Samochornov said.
Mueller’s team held its tongue while the media crucified the president and his family for years. Essentially, Mueller buried evidence that would have exonerated Trump, Jr.
“The omission from the Mueller report leaves a distorted picture that has been allowed to persist for more than two years,” a Senate staffer involved in the Russia investigation told Solomon.
The cover-up is “likely to raise serious questions among congressional oversight committees about why the information was suppressed in the Mueller report, why the FBI kept it quiet for two years while Trump Jr. was being politically pilloried, and why the news media has failed to correct its own record of misleading reporting,” Solomon wrote.
