Fox News host Tucker Carlson is under fire from the left for a series of wild radio comments made decades ago.
They’re using his old jokes and off-color comments to pressure and outright bully both Fox News and its advertisers to get Carlson KICKED off the air.
But there’s another side to this “scandal” that most Americans HAVEN’T heard.
That’s because it hasn’t made headlines.
If anything, the liberal media – no doubt HOPING to tank Carlson’s career – is not only ignoring it… but flat-out covering it up.
Those old comments getting so much attention were found by a leftist group called Media Matters. But as it turns out, the head of that group – the very same organization trying to get Carlson fired over old off-color comments – has his OWN ugly history of saying some pretty horrible things.
And some of them are far worse than ANYTHING Carlson has said!
Media Matters president Angelo Carusone’s old blog – uncovered by Carlson’s Daily Called website (touché) – contains hateful and offensive words, such as calling the Japanese “Japs” and a trans person a “tranny.”
“Almost every day, he issues outrage press releases accusing other people of bigotry,” Carlson wrote in a Fox News editorial. “And yet, because everything is irony, Carusone is himself an enthusiastic bigot. We know this for sure because he has written about it extensively.”
Many of the blog entries contain language that can’t be reprinted in The Horn. Let’s just say there’s a lot of foul words and explicit sexual content. (Read the entries for yourself right here… if you have a strong enough stomach for it.)
Carusone told CNN the blog was “a giant, obnoxious right-wing caricature, a parody of a right-wing blowhard living my life.”
Yet as the Daily Caller pointed out, the old blogs endorsed Al Gore for president and attacked Republicans.
That doesn’t fit the “giant, obnoxious right-wing caricature” explanation… at all.
But the mainstream media hasn’t called him out on this.
In fact, they’ve barely TOUCHED the story, even as they breathlessly report on everything in the old Carlson interviews.
But is this even really a scandal?
Carlson admits he used “naughty words” when he spoke years ago to radio shock jock Bubba the Love Sponge.
The fact that he was speaking to someone named Bubba the Love Sponge should make it perfectly clear that Carlson was trying to entertain in a certain format. Impolite? Sure. Naughty? Of course. Wrong? Yes… but deliberately so, in a way intended to make people laugh during their morning commute to work.
And as Carlson pointed out, the leftists attacking him now all have yet to reckon with their own history – and not just Carusone.
“Why are the people who consider Bill Clinton a hero lecturing me about sexism?” he asked on his show. “How can the party that demands racial quotas denounce other people as racist?”
Fox News is standing by Carlson.
“We cannot and will not allow voices like Tucker Carlson to be censored by agenda-driven intimidation efforts from the likes of Moveon.org, Media Matters and Sleeping Giants,” the company said in a statement.
But the bullying is working: An analysis by TheWrap finds a dramatic drop in advertising on his show. One year ago, he had 54 advertisers. One week ago – after being hit hard by another boycott campaign launched in December – he was down to 36.
Now, after the Media Matters released Carlson’s old audio, he’s down to just 14.
Some of the commercials that remain are actually Fox News promos.
At least MyPillow is sticking with him!
CEO Mike Lindell has been a friend of the conservative movement – and he’s responded to the bullies before.
Last year, in the midst of a leftist attempt to get Laura Ingraham kicked off the air, Lindell not only didn’t pull his ads… he proudly and publicly declared that he would stand as firm as his pillows.
He’s doing to same for Carlson… which means once again, a Fox News host just might be “saved by the pillow.”
