If you can’t beat ‘em, cheat ‘em.
That might as well become the new motto of the Democratic Party.
Democrats have been throwing a temper tantrum ever since Donald Trump was elected president in 2016.
Now, with no new ideas and infighting within their own party, Democrats are turning to a heinous plot to steal the election and it comes on the heels of Trump’s 2020 campaign launch.
And the Democrats are MUCH further along than anyone could have imagined.
Many Americans have never heard of the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact — it’s been practically ignored by the mainstream media.
But it would have cheated Trump out of his 2016 win, and given the White House to Hillary. And it could cheat Trump in 2020.
Under the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, the Electoral College would be all but abolished. States would require their delegates to vote for the candidate who won the national popular vote — even if that candidate lost in their state.
The idea is to ensure that a candidate who loses the popular vote — as Trump did in 2016 — can’t be president.
Of course, the activists behind the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact will tell you it’s bipartisan and fair.
But that couldn’t be further from the truth. It’s being wielded by Democrats as a partisan sword ahead of the 2020 elections.
To date, the compact has been passed into law in 15 states and Washington, D.C., representing 196 electoral votes. The 15 states include California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington.
What do all 15 of those states and Washington, D.C. have in common? They all went “blue” and voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016.
To date, the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact has not been signed in a single “red,” pro-Trump state. It’s being used by Democrats to undo what Trump was able to accomplish in 2016 — and to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
Of course, the real irony is that few Democrats were complaining about the Electoral College before the 2016 election, when they were certain Hillary would prevail.
Now, they’re trying to discard millions of conservatives’ votes — and hundreds of years of electoral precedent — simply because they hate President Trump.
The compact will not go into effect unless it’s passed in states with another 74 electoral votes (which would represent the majority of electoral votes). But once that threshold is reached, the Electoral College is as good as dead.
Even worse, if the compact is signed in any red or other battleground states, it could take them out of play in a close 2020 election.
“Leftists… want to undo the Electoral College and the U.S. Constitution in the hopes of guaranteeing control of the presidency,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “This attack on the Electoral College would give large left-leaning states and voter fraud an unconstitutionally outsized impact on the outcome of our presidential elections.”
And that’s exactly what Democrats are hoping for.
Because the goal here isn’t electoral reform — it’s to cheat Trump.
And Democrats don’t care if they have to step all over the Constitution to do it.
