Ever since he left the White House on January 20, the political world has been abuzz wondering one thing: Will President Donald Trump run for re-election in 2024?
Now, we may have a concrete answer from the closest source imaginable that Trump will seek four more years just three years from now.
The president’s son, Eric Trump, let the cat out of the bag on a conservative TV network on Tuesday.

“What’s the latest on 2024? Where’s his heart right now?” asked host Greg Kelly on Newsmax TV.
“A lot of people want [President Trump] back, to say the least,” Eric Trump responded. “There’s half this country right now that feels like they don’t have a spokesperson. They have no voice. You’ve got another major amount of the country who thinks that they made a terrible mistake electing” President Joe Biden.
Eric Trump mentioned some of the ways Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris had destroyed the country that Donald Trump handed them. Overall prices have risen by 5%—the worst increase in inflation since the 2008 Great Recession. The cost of a gallon of gasoline started rising the minute Joe Biden took over, jumping 25 cents in the month of February. Then, drivers found the pumps shut down completely by hackers, who have yet to be brought to justice.
“You see what’s happening with Putin literally hacking our country, the lack of respect,” Trump told Kelly. “You see what’s happening with the mess that’s the southern border—millions of people coming over the southern border.”
“Crime is spiking all throughout the country, and I could go on and on.” Illegal immigration across the Mexican border has reached its highest level in 15 years—and the year is far from over. Nationally, murders are up 25% over 2020. Things are worse in Democrat-run cities like Chicago, where the number of murders in 2021 is already higher than for every full year going back to at least 2017.
With everything Biden is doing, “there are a lot of people that are missing Trump,” the First Son said. “And I think every single day that Biden messes up our nation, I think it further incentivizes my father—and frankly, our entire family—to do it again.”

“We’re going to walk through that door,” Eric Trump said.
Trump went on to predict that the GOP takes back Congress in two years before a Republican—like his father—takes the White House.
“I think 2022 is going to be an absolute bloodbath for the Democrats. I think we’re absolutely going to do incredibly well,” he said.
“And I think 2024 is going to surprise everybody.”
Eric Trump called his father “the strongest political force” in the Republican Party. “There’s never been anybody who had the following of my father,” he said.
The former president, who won more votes than any Republican presidential candidate in history, has dropped hints about his electoral plans in the past. On the day he left office, Trump promised, “We will be back in some form.”
A month later at the conservative political gathering CPAC, Trump said that “Biden has failed” so spectacularly as president that, “Who knows? I may even decide to beat them for a third time, OK?”
His son’s confirmation is the strongest hint we have yet that the 45th president will return to the GOP ballot in 2024.

Trump has continued to dominate polls since leaving office. The most recent approval poll shows people in Iowa evenly divided on Trump—49% in favor, 49% opposed. The only exception came over the weekend, when Trump was edged out by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in a poll taken at the Western Conservative Summit.
2024 is shaping up to be the Clash of the Titans for the GOP primaries.
